will this drain my battery alot and flatten it ?

anybody added a boot install to a mk5 polo ?

I've got 250 to inc fitting so 200 w.o or 225 if my local auto store hast the gear!

It wont drain your battery unless you play it alot with the engine turned off.

If you're spending £200 on a system i wouldnt waste £50 on fitting lol.

for the money youve got you wont get a boot install....

you can afford a decent sub, with box, and amp and probably wiring kit too...

to install it all is easy, just take your time, route everything properly and you'll be ok

also i have no idea as to how to get sound wires to the back of the car, and dont want to go ripping off panels etc to do so. best leave it to the pros

You could fit it an hour to be fair with a decent guide off UK-polos.net save yourself the cash.

Not the best diagram, but hey there you go it helps.

Turn engine of and take the keys out.

1.) Basically it is all plug and play, what you need to do is find a hole in a footwell or similar place in order to run a amp power cable.

(PLEASE NOTE DO NOT ATTACH THIS TO YOUR BATTERY UNTIL EVERYTHING IS CHECKED FOR EARTHS AND SHORT CIRCUITS)

2.) Pull out your headunit this can be done with ease by using the correct tools or just pushed out from the back.

3.) Attach your amp leads into the back of your headunit, (ensure it is in the correct slot as some have many outputs)

4.) Attach your remote this on my model a 6N is either of the red or yellow wires it needs to be attached securely (one is a live and will not turn your amp off the other is a remote and will)

5.) Run these down the passengers footwell or split the lead and power cable up for less interference.

6.) once all neat and tidy and at the boot the next thing is the ground this stops your car being electrified as well as you. There should eb a bolt where the light of some sort will already be earthing out, un bolt it then attacth it securely.

7.) If there isn't a fuse already in your power lead now is the time to do it, cut the wire and place the fuse along the line.

8.) now you can start attaching to the amp, attach the leads first then the ground, then the live and remote. (note that no wire is touching causing a short circuit it is not good news) Attach your speaker wire from your channels to your sub.

9.) once everything is sorted and neat and tidy try your stereo to ensure the stations and settings still save. If not you have move a wire just trace it and sort it normally again the red or yellow on a 6N.

10.) Now you need to atttach the live , turn the engine OFF, to do so just bolt it on as you would to the POSITIVE +, self explanitory. As you are turn her over check you have power to your amp and adjust settings accordingly to suit you.

This is just ten steps and can be alot more detailed and in depth as it does not take into account wattage, 6x9's, multiple amps. it is simple just have a ago.

As i say you only make the mistake once when it costs you money (Y)

i dont think you realise just how easy this is!

hardest thing is getting your power cable from battery into the car, but if you find a grommet used for the bonnet catch, or ecu, or fuse box and use the same one, if not you will need to drill a hole into the firewall and use a suitable grommet with silicone.

as for routing it all to the boot, if you pull off the door seal, you should see a mnice big gap going down the side of the car, just put it all in there and you'll be ok!

i am also about to install a new head unit, sub and amp into my mk5 and was ready to pay someone to do it.

i looked on uk-polos but couldnt find the guide for installation.
