my footwell has become a bit soggy

i have had a look around, and it appears to be the footwell itself not carpet from higher up as which would suggest it coming from higher up say a window seal, then settling in the footwell

i have noticed a series of bungs under the car, would one of these be the cause?

or possibly the door seal?

prob your door seals tbh mate, give them a check see if theres any small cracks or rips in t he rubber. a mate of mine had the same problem and it was through a tear in the door seal

there is 2 seal on the door frame one attached to the outer body runnning down the a pillar and one to the inner door.

do \GSF sell seals or is it gonna be a VW job?

the door seal hasd no apparent perishing rips tears or anything that would indicate a leak.

i have sat in the car for a good while whilst being blastred with a hose/ pressure washer and nothing appears to be coming in

i am just gonna start replacing bits and see where it gets me!

boot floor dry, under rear bench dry so i dont think it is coming fron the rear, unless it is behind the rear door card!

blasting all along the door top edge and along the windscreen edges also did nothing!

chrispy, check the rubber seal in the engine bay that holds the scuttle panel onto the bulkhead,,mine came a little loose and water leaked in through where your ecu and pollen filter are,,or possibly the red water drains that run down the inside of your a pillars have somehow come loose and leaking???

it might not be the same on your newer cars but i get a wet footwell

and its coz my battery tray has rusted away.

if i lay on the floor in my footwell, with the bonnet open i can see the sky..

could have a look if it was that?

may not be the same on yr car tho?!

I had this problem once... fcuking annoying. It turned out to be something very simple. The drainage holes to the medial aspect of the A pillar just adjacent to the pollen filter had become blocked with leaves and stuff over the years.

Hot soapy water and a hose unblocked the area and no more wet feet! I had to take the carpets out, shampoo, and dry inside to prevent that 'wet dog' smell.

To get to the blasted area... open bonnet, lift black fascia to reveal pollen filter. Look at the gap between the cabin pollen filter and the wing, blast water down there +/- probe with coat hanger. Repeat on other side.

i had the rear door card off behind drivers seat yesterday, and the lower corner nearest to the a pillar on the window looked wet where the seal is!

i am suspicious this maybe a possible cause if not the above!

i had the same problem, i found that it was my pollen filter tray was not fixed and the water was comin through the heated fan, take your riastat out see if if it rusty if it is then thats your problem.

Chrispy my man. i had a white 6n as you know... i had a wet passanger floor and wet rear apssanger floor as you may not know.

its a common fault that the rear seat when pushed back in to place form time to time makes the rear wash wipe become unconnected and then of course when u spray the rear wash wipe it pisses out behind the rear passenger door card. check that it isnt that :)

prop would be the pollen filter a common problem with most cars, that we've owned, both the s4's and my brothers polo gti had to have them cleaned and replaced.. so would say it was what the above people have stated pollen filter. good luck mate may the solution be a cheap and easy one :)

I had this problem on my polo. thought it was the door seal but turned out to be the windscreen seal. got it replaced and was covered on insurence has sorted it out and is completely dry. I would recommend that you take it to a windscreen place to have a look.

i had this problem even bought a door seal off you ages ago , after a lot of testing i found it was the foam stuff on the inside of the doorcard . it had a big rip in it and water was coming in the car into the footwell . i had another leak which was on the otherside of the pollen filter a rubber grommit had perished and was letting water in . hope this helps .
