right so as far as i understand to get max camber set em at 20/20 then whip in in BUT is what i want to know is will this increase the toe? the car is currently lowered full drop on supersport coilovers and has some camber to it

Anybody know if you can achieve more camber with a shim and correct/decrease the toe in?

or is it a case of 20/20 run it and live with it?

I ran full negative camber, ie. 20/20, in that case toe isnt adjusted, as far as i can make sense of, if you want toe adjustment you'd have to set one section at 20 for camber, then the other sideways for toe... :s s'all bout camber anyway lol.

How much is full drop? If its on a 6n, the tracking will be out when decked anyway, so you'd be better getting it aligned at a garage, then use the shims for negative camber, purely for looks..

full drop is apparently 120mm on the coilovers, it has been aligned allready and i know the rear is cambered and has slight toe in but what i want to know is if i put these discs in at 20/20 how much will it increase the toe angle?

None if set at 20/20 at the bottom (max camber)

If you looked straight at the shim, it'd be 20 at the bottom, so increased neg camber, and 10 either side, so toe in/out wont change.

but do they base those readings on the car being standard height? as when they are lowered the toe increases anyway

True, but if you've had the car aligned since lowering it, you can change specifically what you want with the shims, camber, toe etc..

most garages i have been to have always told me they cannot adjust the rear end? reckon they would do about toe or should i just chuck them on and hope for the best?

Dunno then pal, i fitted them on the back of my mk3, because the fronts not adjustable.

It wont do any harm fitting them as you'll just be changing the camber, nout else.

Actually when you fit them at max drop with max camber you will drastically increase your rear toe in!

To counter act that and straighten the rear wheels up you should set the shim to 20/20 then align with where its going (behind stub axle) then rotate towards the rear of the car by 2 tabs!

This straightens everything out for you

so rotate the whole thing round 2 of the inner tabs then break them off and fit them in?

Rotate the whole shim not just the inner tabs. In escence you are setting it to 20/20 then rotating to 18/18 or 02/02 (cant remember which way the numbers go) then you break the tabs off.

Just make sure you rotate the whole shim (both parts) the same amount towards the rear of the car :)

When you lower a car a natural side effect is increased toe in along with some negative camber.

Thus increasing one will increase the other

To counter act this you rotate the whole shim 2 plates towards the back of the car which will still add maximum possible negative camber yet eliminate any unwanted toe in! :)

Ok, but as the car's already lowered and has had the resulting toe-in adjusted, surely you can use the shims to just adjust what you want..

Toe is not adjustable on the rear of ANY polo as they all have a solid rear beam (not independant double wishbones found on hondas for example) therefore the toe wont have been adjusted. That is why you would rotate the shim, to reduce the existing toe in aswell as stopping anyore from being added .

Biggest numbers are the thickest parts of the shim? They were on mine...

IIRC when the 2 largest numbers are together it creates a shape like this (side profile) |\

Meaning maximum camber. Crispy should know if you pm him
