What an eventful day......

Featured Replies

Well where to begin! Went to pick up my new car today (Mk2 Golf G60 :D)

Got there in good time got it taxed and was ready to hit the road for the 2 hour drive back!

Everything was going peachy until a strange buzzing started going off which at first I thought was the oil buzzer! After a few times of pulling over onto the hard shoulder and sitting there for a little bit I caught up with my bro at the next service station. We checked the oil and it looked a little bit low so we topped that up and thought everything was all good to go again! So back on the road but once again this buzzing comes back, so I pulled back over and check everything that it might be. My brother then remembered the previous owner had told him that due to the car not being used in a while the speedo would probably make a loud buzzing noise at certain speeds. So panic over back on the road we go.....

But wait theres more!! A few more miles up the road the car lost all power and I had to pull on to the hard shoulder. I already knew that the fuel pump relay was a bit iffy and after a quick wiggle about the car started up again so we headed home, or so we thought. About 10 minutes down the road it decided to do it again so back on to the hard shoulder for some more wiggling! This went on for the next hour and in the end we decided to call the RAC to see if they could sort it out. The bloke turned up and managed to wedge the relay in with two bits of wood so it wouldnt move about anymore.

The rest of the drive home went quite smoothly until we were about 5 miles away and the oil pressure light and buzzer came on. Quickly pulled over down the nearest road and had a look under the bonnet. The oil catch tank had decided to blow oil out from around the lid, so another quick top up of oil and we were off once again! After a slow crawl home listening to the buzzer go on and off I finally pulled up outside my house seven and a half hours after we set off!

Even though all this may have happened the car is absolutely amazing to drive and I'm really glad I bought it, a lot of work has gone in to it over the years and I hope I can keep it in tip top condition! Just hope that the problem isnt to serious and I can get it fixed very soon!

Anyways heres some pics of it enjoy!

that looks awesome mate!

shame about the eventful drive..!

at least your home safe with a pimp ass car 8-)

I had the exact same problem when I had my Mk2 Golf GTi 8v.

After much deliberation and pulling out of hair, it turned out the dipstick was knackered, giving a false reading, so i was putting way too much oil in, causing the oil pressure light to come on and buzz a lot.

I'd probably suggest you drain all the oil and replace it with the correct amount, then check what level it sit at on the dipstick.

Then get a new dipstick.

quality
