jimmy7's GT

Featured Replies

hi guys,

this my polo, it was origionally a steel blue 1.3 genesis but the guy i bought it off did a GT conversion on it (but put BBS RA's on it)

since buying it i have removed the side/bump strips, lowered it a little more, bought new tyres, got a debadged grill, got a bonnet bra, added a splitter to the front, stripped the back out, got a new rear number plate, replaced a headlight, removed the rear wiper, fitted "aero" wiper blades, changed the gear knob, added a few stickers to the back, fitted a smooth boot plynth, added beaded seat covers, changed the front indicators back to orange (just to see what i prefer), got a 76 aeriel topper, and cleaned the engine up a bit.

i think thats all so far, but new wheels are due i think, I'm after some poke (as I'm currently rolling on BBS RA's with 32mm spacers on the back), and the front is going a little lower. and I've got a G40 axel (courtesy of philj) to go on it and a new steering wheel should be arriving soon!

what do u guys think of it ?

here are pictures and links to photobucket, i'll update them as i modify. :)

this is how it looked when i bought it:

just a bit of an update really as i haven done anything for a while.

I'm now rolling on banded steels courtesy of monkeypolo and the front of the car has settled a little bit but I'm still after some lowering topcaps and still haven't fitted the rear axel!

not that much changed, but soon to come - G40 rear axel, camber shims and rolled arches to tuck the 8's on the back - then hopefully more performance mods when funds are available such as a stainless steel 4branch manifold and possibly a cam ?

its been a while...

since i got pulled over and the filth werent happy with the scrubbing on my rear tyres, I've had to adjust the wheels so there is less poke - 7's are now on the back and i had 6n steels on the front but managed to get hold of some standard coupe S steels (thanks aaron) and got 165/55's for them.

not much new has happened, the silly bits are off now and I'm keeping it shiney, lowering topcaps are now on but still haven't got the arches rolled or got the G40 axel on :( id like a new steering wheel at some point as the size of the GT one is getting to me. it now has a polished rear strut brace, a golf GTi AFM, a mirror blank on the passenger side, "green stuff" brake pads and a sawn down numberplate on the front.

I've chosen the best pictures from the links that i provided and put them up so no-one has to sift through my photobucket - also added some more info. :)

ahh i love a nice steel blue ;) although.. please remove the splitter  i think there's enough black with the bumper and adding a splitter on is too much :/

do love the car though :)

nice gt 8-)

cheers guys, the splitter is an on/off thing, tore my bumper off not long ago and usually doesnt stay on for that long :)

Pic 5 Looks best IMO

cheers dude ;)

had the rear arches rolled today to accomodate the 8's on the rear again, rallied it a bit tonight with the 7inch banded steels in the back and i only caught the arches a few times when really bumpy on cornering like a madman :) I'm pleased.

here are some recent pictures that i took a few minutes ago.

cant really see the rolled arches but you can see the bit of trim that has been cut to fit..

this is how it stands at the moment

this little freeloader was on my bonnet!

heres one last picture to put the 8's in perspective, my drive is a funny angle so makes it look like I've got loads of arch gap :(

IMG_8715.jpg

the 5.5 steels are staying on the front until i get some 165/55's fitted to the 7's to replace them.

peace.
