DONT DO IT! i had 17" on my 6n and it ripped the bushe's to fcuk i had it lowered about 60mm with 195/40/17 pirelli pzero nero's on it! it did handle ace untill the front drivers wishbone snapped

195/40-17 is way too big for 6N/6N2! If you use 185/35-17, as I am, the wheelsize will be correct! the 195/40-16 is bigger then 185/35-17

Were can i get these tyres from its a nightmare i work in the trade and even I'm struggling

This is on 7" wide rim. 7" is the widest rim the tyre is legal on. And I have NO SCRUBBING AT ALL! Not even with 4 in the car!

The only thing that is important with this tyres are that you have to lower Alot! I have about 100mm drop, but I think anything less then 80mm drop will make this look wierd, couse of the very low tyre profile!

Sits NICE at the back what offset are your wheels and have you spaced them out?

Thats it I'm putting the 17's back on with them elastic band should be SMOOTH LOL

The rims are ET35, but i have 5mm spacers on each side in front, and 13mm on each side at back. So it is ET30 i front and ET22 bak. I had to put on 1cm ekstra bumpstop bak with the spacers. Without this the rims (not tyres!) scrubbed into the body! But now there is no scrubbing at all!

thinking about it.... the arches on a 6n are smaller than a 6n2...

neil- what are you driving as this could seriously affect it no?

They are the same except that the rear bumper raise's more up the arch giving a little more space not much though

Can i see a pic of how its sitting on the front arch?

I've borrowed the arch roller from work so i might go 7x17 et25 front and et 18 rear should sit wide enough lol

ok. ET25 in front i dont think sould be any problem. when i have ET30. I had a plan to space 5mm more in front, couse the looks to be room to it, but sinse it is one hour work just to get the car in the air (:p) and it was no scrubbing i haven't do it. But you must need a STIFF sett of coilovers!

I say go for it - I reckon 16/17" wheels look pretty damned cool on a Mk4/5. Better than 13s (far too small) and maybe even 14s tbh.

If you mean mk5 golf gti wheels then no because the pcd is 5x112 and your polo will need 5x100 pcd

Hi I'm looking for some alloys for my 1997 polo. I've seen some 17" vauxhall astra wheels which are four stud same as mine and i hear vauxhall wheels fit on VWs. Will 17s be too big and will they need low profile tyres?

17s can work on a 6n2 but the ones you like in my opinion would not suit the car at all,too much going on on them

Thanks, i have heard about a thing called wobbly nuts that move to suit the stud pattern, eg from a 5x100 to a 5x112. But i didnt think they would be suitable on such a different pattern? Also i am interested in 17" audi tt polished comp alloys. Anyone know where i can get these, if they fit and if they dont fit what do i need to do to make them fit? Thanks Sam
