Tail light tint removal

Featured Replies

I recently tinted my back light (done them prety dark) anyway, i got pulled earlier n basicly i have to get rid of the lights. I have heard you can remove the tint (how???). Secondly someone told me to just spray over them with laquer (What exactly would this achieve???)

Cheers

get some mk5 lights on! :D

Do they just fit in place of the old ones

it really depends on the amount you put on in the first place mate!

yeah i have mk5 lights on my mk4 polo! they look great, they do fit, but 2 things 1, they stick out a little bit, only small tho, can't really notice, and 2 they both need rewire-ing only a two minute job tho, really easy,

no worries

Clear laquer is a "protective" film for paints who ever said it will take it off is wrong...... get some washing up liquid or turps and use a scouring pad on it.

Thinners has worked before for me as said

Or you can just sand them down

it worked for me!

t cut removes tint spray but you need to leave it to soak in , does not damage lights

Acetone (nail polish remover) might do the trick aswell test on a small area though 1st if you go down this route.

Ok, another question. Basicly i cleaned off my lights but they looked crap so i decided to give them a coulpv coats of tint spray to see how it went. put 2 coats on n it looked ok but wasnt dark enough as id like so done another n the lights went dull (do you know what i mean). So I've saw sereval polos with lights that are darker than mine were with 2 coats of tint spray but still looked shiny / reflective. How could i achieve this or are these lights standard on certain versions of the 6n.

Cheers.

Will it look just as shiny / reflective as say standard lights, how many coats do u think will do it

Pretty much yeah. 1 coat should do it, though you'll have plenty left in the can if you want to go over them a second time.

acetone and thinners will melt the plastic and knacker the lenses

Pressure washer got it of my mates 106 front indicators.
