gearbox and engine matching polo 6n

Featured Replies

Hi this is my first ever post,

well my problem is i have a 1.4 8v 6n, i've changed the gearbox and clutch a couple of yrs ago and now i have gearbox oil pouring out of where the flywheel cover is! so i believe that the cluch is covered in gearbox oil and is slipping cause of this.

Before this problem was aparent it was poppin out of gear and was difficult to get into some gears some of the time!

This leads me to think that maybe the sync. unit inside the gearbox is no good and the gearbox oil seal is now none existent, can anyone shead any light on this matter!

Also i maybe able to obtain a gearbox but its a 1.6 gl gearbox, will this fit a 1.4 cl 8v engine?

Thanks

Get the code off the replacement box and the one you have now and I'll tell you the ratios. There's only one seal in the bellhousing and it's in the input shaft cover. Easy to replace and not expensive. If it's failed then maybe your bearings are knackered and the shaft is wandering around.
