G-LaderSite TCA's

Featured Replies

I need some new TCA's on the G as the current ones are standard Mk3 ones with wank bushes in them and they are shagged.

I could go to VW and buy some genuine ones but looking at G-ladersite they do some for much cheaper.

Has anyone used these or know if they are any good?

I don't wanna go spending £170 on some TCA's and they end up to be shite.

These are what i am talking about

I have a set of these in the garage and i am very impressed in the general quality of them. I cant sy i have any experience of them on the car but i have heard nothing but good things about them. Seems they are worth every penny!!

in conjunction with a subframe i can see the benefits, castor and camber adjustable then. with an ARB i cant see you getting alot of movement without stressing the ARB more than is advisable. track car with a frame then yes, otherwise save your dollar i reckon.

i run them with an ARB, g-ladersite top mounts and arb mounts. i run 2deg positive castor and 2deg negative camber.

at the end of the day, genuine VW ones are £140, and they're nylon bushed and adjustable for £40 more by the time they're at your door.

i dont see how you can gauge the "advisable" amount of stress on a polo arb, unless you happen to have had one properly stress tested. at the end of the day the ARB is a big 18mm thick spring essentially, squishing it 2mm either way isnt going to make it snap

Yeah I reckon these should be good.

The only thing that worries me a little is the chance of "creap" in the eccentric camber adjuster. As I see it, the only thing that stops it turning is the tightness of the TCA bolt? I can't see it being an issue if you are at minimum or maximum camber adjustment ie; the "3 or 9 o'clock" position, but if the eccentric hole is "clocked" anywhere else particularly at the top or bottom could it not move??

Also, it looks as though the bolt hole is smaller than the original M10 due to the eccentric fitting? Surely its not M8?!

Pinches, please tell me I'm wrong!

If my concerns are unjustified, I'd deffinately have these over OE G40 TCA's.

thanks for the opinions guys

i am trying to decide if i should buy these or OEM ones as mine are really shagged (they are non G40 ones with powerflex bushes).

i don't mind paying the extra of OEM ones if they are better, if they aren't then i will save a few quid and get the glader ones.

chris are you saying that the genuine ones are better?

hey rob, have a look at my "drives" under my user name

oh yeah!

i was going to say, just get standard tca's and get some powerflex in them, cheapest way and does the job

or you can get a couple of shims made up at work to squish up the bushes even more

Nice! You got an R!!! What colour is it? Common Blue?

As for the bushes and shims, thats just a pikey way of doing it, i wanna do it properly, not the kam bodge way!

dont buy powerflex bushes they're rubbish.

as for the bolt hole, i'm not sure actually. i assume that i reused my old bolts so they must be the same. i cant see them moving the diameter of the bolt down by 2mm as you would have some sort of crazy camber/track going as you drove about!

these look good but what about weather protection? fine for a race car or similar but on the road them rose joints are just gonna rust up and seize solid, then snap on a bad day? it does say on the site they are for motorsport use and that is different to blastin round with yer mates in day in day out!

if one broke and caused fatal injuries who's at fault? not g ladersiete if the arms a put to "improper use"

just a thought...

its not just a "common" R32 you bugger, its an edition 1, the purple mk2 golf with the blue recaro interior?

well, i agree, what i did is quite pikey, but it works

as for road protection.... these tca are no different to the original vw's g40 tca, they arent going to rust seized, snap and stuff

btw, you drilled any holes in the exhaust yet?

the genuine vag ones have rubber boots over the inner rose joint don't they?

Yes they do.

damn it you boys!

sorry, i got it wrong

.........again

It looks like OEM's win the day here for road use, but are they still available and what's the price? I went the polybush way with my old G just cos it was so easy and cheap, but the rose jointed ones definately gave a better feel to the car.

a new pair of G40 TCAs is about £140

You might be lucky with the TCA's. The G40 steering arms went obsolete this year and no longer available.

the fing is tho.... the polo is a poor design full stop, putting ball joints in helps but dont cure the fact that the suspension is just wrong, maybe one of them subframe things would help?

oh, and i cant see the eccentric moving either, it will take so much force to move it when its tight that the shell would bend first, think about the mk2 golf camber adustment set up on the strut and all that leverage, they can take it no probs and there not even on a ecc cam.

Looking at the shots of these TCA's from G-Lader; are they definately metal to metal joints? The circlip suggests something renewable, maybe a hard poly liner. If that's the case there wouldn't be any need for a rubber boot and they should be AOK for long term road use.

rose joints are only held in with a circlip anyway.

just ordered 2 from VW at £71.72 each.

I've considered nylon inserts, but you need movement and nylon is hard stuff.

If corrosion is a concern, regular spraying with grease should suffice - I'm sure G-laderseite are just covering themselves with that line.

Though whether your insurance would agree is another matter..

water and grit can get in, doesn matter what the ball is made of its still gonna wear! take the boots of you cv joints and see how long they last even with all the grease still on, thats why track rod ends etc have boots on, even grease with no water will still turn into grinding paste.

dont forget that even a little play in the joint will rattle like hell and push the grease out in no time.

i must be getting old or somthing!
