I bought one of these off ebay.de and its definatley not stainless steel, the ad says painted mild steel.

Have you tried fitting it yet? The mounting holes dont line up on the turbo, well not on my k04 anyway.

wouldn't be very good if the whole manifold was stainless as stainless steel its known for cracking under high temperatures

well that is quite misleading then. it reads like its all stainless

Actually, as long as the correct grade is used and the material is thick enough, stainless steel is ideal.

They get a bit of a bad reputation because so many are badly made with cheap/incorrect grade stainless and with very thin wall tube. All polished up and shiny to look at and relatively cheap to buy - but crap! There's loads on Ebay.
