the addresses will no doubt be random buildings/hotels

i dont have the link to hand with all the info from the previous scam attempt

IP address is the same, clearly the same guy returning for more with a new username.

This is all so frustrating, from my point of view we gave the police his bank account details & his IP address. So why didnt the police have the account frozen then find the house address the IP is linked to and go pick the guy up and question him on his intent.

it sounds so simple to me, yet i know police have their set ways of doing things, but this is getting rediclous now, we dont even know how many forums he is doing this on now.

Oh and one of the mods could do with banning his IP so he cannot sign up under any user name on this site.

I've banned the IP now but that's far from a guarantee he wont be back. It's very, very, very easy to change your IP address. Although the fact he keeps doing this from the same IP before makes me think he's not very IT savvy so may not know how to change it?

Also the bank account he gave out this time is different to the one used previously. Different name, different numbers etc...

well different bank accounts, maybe a ring? or if same person then there is some serious fraud with names, the police are rubbish, seriously, this second scam could have been avoided if they actually did something.

yeah not sure what to make of it really. possibly a friends bank account or something? The fact they are all coming from one easily traceable ip address makes me think they/he aren't that "professional". Especially since the address on one account seemed to match the location of the ip address being used.

no traceable address really, you need to take bank details to the police, and all other info

will do today, he gave me some bank details but then we decided to pay by paypal again, do you think that il be able to get his details if i go into the bank and explain it to them?

If you've used PayPal there's a juch better chance of you getting your money back you'll just have to go through there refunding procedure on there site.

i wouldnt "stop buying" i would just be very careful...

- if something looks too cheap to be true, be suspicious.

- if something is being sold by a brand new user be very careful.

- if you must send money to people, use Paypal as then you have a means to report it to them and could possibly get your money back. A bank transfer isn't secure in this way.

- if you suspect a post on here is dodgy, report it right away using the "report to moderator" link that's on every thread.

paypal will take the usual days to reply etc

but you will get your money back through paypal, as he wont be able to confirm delivery etc

much as people complain about paypal fees, it is times like this that it pays off!

I just spent 11 minutes on the phone to them and at the end they said they couldnt help me because the account was in my mothers name

I think its discusting that anyone can do this, let alone keep coming back as a new user to do it again!

As DKnight says, if something seems too good to be true be very wary and wherever possible do what i do and pay cash on collection!

i just nearly got scammed by that little prick thankfully he got deleted shame he got to all you guys 1st thogh eh :sad:

its not that i only have a polo engine now dont need parts for that need if i do i can get new parts at trade prices just need mk1 golf parts and cant get them off hear lol

Why hasn't a feedback system been introduced? Loads of other car forums have them.
