These wont bolt straight on as the carriers are different on the Golf compared to the Polo G40

They are off a mk2 Golf GTI 16 valve same fixings as a polo so should go straight on. Might be worth double checking. Where abouts are you could always come and try one on?

The mk2 golfs and onwards have a spacing of 96mm between the two carrier -> hub mounting points. mk1 golfs and mk1-3 polos have 75mm spacing.

you need audi carriers to fit 256mm brakes on to mk2/3 polos, golf bits dont fit.

Generaly found on Audi 80 from about 1986ish. Part number is 853 615 125. I believe they can also be found on The 5 cylinder Audi coupe from about the same year. Hope this helps!

eh? well i know mk2 8v brakes fit straight on (watched a mate put some on the other day!) and golf brakes are all inter changeable so...........

you are wrong, the carriers off all mk2 golfs are the wrong spacing. You need mk1 golf ones to fit the 8v ones (239x20mm vented) and Audi 80/90 or quattro coupe (non turbo) to fit the girling 54 calipers with 256x20mm venteds

The VWII calipers for 239mm vented discs which can be found on some mk2 golfs will fit onto the polo carriers but the golf carriers wont fit onto a polo and golf 16v brakes wont fit at all because they wont fit onto the polo carriers.
