not my cup of tea imo mate, purely for the fact that the wheels now look alot skinnier and you didn't need stretch in the first place.

Stretch looks good on wide wheels that stick out of the arches and used to create clearance between the tyre and the arch and try and keep within the loophole within the law about tyre tread sticking out of the arch, each to their own

just my two pence

used to create clearance between the tyre and the arch

that the main reasons 4 doing it!!! ther was not the clearance in the arches for the wheels!!!!! i now need to replace all the inner arches on the car!!! and do some metal treating cos the fronts rubbed through that much !!!

will look beter once i space them out!!!

I take it thats a 7x15" rim? Looks like a nice bit of stretch. I think i will just go for 195/45s on mine seeing your pics has got me thinking.

How much did you pay per corner?

Not my cup of tea, although the pictures aren't the best (phone pictures?). I'll stick to my 195/45/15s! Wouldn't want to hoon round the Shire on those skinny wee tyres! :|

lol oh dear... the stretch doesnt even look good if yoiu get what i mean!

i totally understand, good point you made there!

they look similar to mine but 165 was too silly for me

oh dear...

yer they phone pics... tbh it does look crap in the pics.. looks alot beter in real life! but the wheels do sit well in the arches now! needs 15 or 20 mm spacers badly now!

Dont see the point in strech just for the sake of it. Defeats the whole point of it really.

Fair play if thats what you're into tho.

Euro Chav

  :-D

u just called the the 1 thing i hate the most ... "chav"!!!!

i did not do the stretch thing for any other reason apart from to stop my tires eating away the arches..... as the wheels are NOT polo ofset... it ment that the fronts have worn holes into the body work and the rears have eaten the inners around the bummper joints!!!!!!

would a 185 of been better though... of a wheel that isent that wide i think its too far sorry

I've got 15" X 7j's on my Golf.

Wouldn't have minded getting a bit of stretch, but tbh it would've made the wheels look really skinny, and more importantly I wanted as much rubber in contact with the road as possible; so went for the 195's.

She's wearing Toyo Proxes 2 all round, which strangely gives the tyre the appearance of a little bit of stretch, but more importantly; by God do they stick to the road.

Sorry no pics atm, but I'll see what I can do.

PS, I do like your rims though, they quite suit the car :D

i do agree...

Poloman... if u sor the damage the 195's have done ud understand why i went straight to the 165's....

as for handleing the 165's are better than the 195's i had on there.. and the stearing is light again which is also good...

if he put em on for a reason then whats the problem? it ent like poteza's are crap tyres eitherway, bit harsh to hate on tyres haha

You need to give the car and tyres a wash! then wack on some tyre gel..

165/50's are cool but you have to run a serious ride height otherwise they look shit. You'll also find that you will have to run the car lower than you first think to pull them off as even though they are low pro the sidewall is still quite tall and because of the stretch they create alot of room in the arch which you have to remove by tucking alot of the sidewall!

Anyway are these back in stock again? How much did you pay for a set?

do you want to become an euro chav too?

Give her a wash and take some full car shots mk1poloblade  I've never seen wheels like yours before actually

|ukking gd, whee|s arnt my thing tbh,

but overall
