What the hell am i thinking. On page 1 i put that i have never driven a bad car!! The company has a Fiat Stilo 1.4 16v that i use when my polo dies and to go to some jobs. Its slow, electrics have broken already, steering feels like I'm in a boat, interior is god awful, brakes are poor, indicators decide when they are going to come out (which is never when you are coming to a junction / island)!!!.

Also who the hell said that GT's flex through the corners?? Mine is awesome on the twisty stuff!!

What do people class as worst cars they've driven? Is it in terms of actually driving it, or in terms of build quality?

Because I've had a few cars and my Saxo is by FAR the best to drive.

Renault Megane the newest shape, it had a 1.4 but it weighed about 2 tonnes. It was a complete joke. I remember I was trying to get it on the driveway which is at a 1 degree incline and it was having to bring it up to like 5,000rpm jsut to get the thing to evne inch foward. Terrible car.

Corsa Comfort Learned to drive in it, wasnt nearly as bad as the Megane it was just the steering was so light and had alot of play in it, really had no feedback from the road which made it difficult to determine how sharp you had to turn to aviod things like cars, people, curbs etc

Best car I've driven was my mums 07 1.6 Zetec S Fiesta, so much fun, very nimble handling and it moves very quickly. I'm no longer insured to drive it though

It's true Toby. Lots of the replies have been by the usual suspects slating anything French or that isn't fast.

Surely "what's the worst car you've driven" means how bad it was to drive? Not what it looked like, or how fast it was, or whether it had poor build quality?

JDubMK3F, you need to learn to drive mate. The 1.4 Megane may have a poor power to weight ratio, that I don't deny - but 5k to get it up a 1 degree incline! I think you need to learn clutch control!

I bought a £500 fiesta, was an L reg, for the first 3 years of my driving life it was the most expensive and newest car, not only that it was by far the worst!

At 70mph it felt like the front of the car was lifting off the ground, no performance, no brakes and poorly built. After that I got a mk2 golf which was 150quid and soooo much better!

I can't class a worst, because they all have their ups and downs....

Personally, I think the saxo interior had several bad aesthetical designs that could easily take your concentration off the road and their was a lack of punch in the 1.4L Compared to my fezza i had before with the same size engine. And some of the things under the engine had impractical locations. But on the other hand if had wellllll comfy seats!

I did want to keep it and smash some schmidts on it but i couldnt afford to insure and run it now I've moved to uni - and now I've got the polo so far i have spent £0 on garage bills and my insurance is about "£1500 cheaper this year, and its quite economical

I took a Kia Cee'd 1.6 TDi to Northampton this year. Frightfully dull! Returned 45mpg at a steady 80-90mph cruise (some higher speeds on the drive back north) which was quite good for yee old wallet. Some of the buttons for the stereo/trip computer were quite a stretch from the drivers seat which I found annoying, perhaps not so much an issue in LHD countries. Interior was very plastic-y and wasn't sculpted in a particularly pleasing manner.

It was a fine companion for devouring mile after mile of motorway but the experience fell apart as soon as I hit b-roads. The car felt top heavy and was up on its toes far too soon when pushing on. It didn't help that I was trying to keep in touch with a 911 GT2 and Lambo LP560-4 on roads I didn't know...it was never going to keep up but it could have at least been a nicer drive.

The diesel engine provided a sizeable chunk of torque at low revs but was completely lifeless after 3500rpm...I found this a hindrance rather than a help when attempting to overtake.

Plenty of boot space... ermm... dulllllllll.....

I really missed not having any nice/cool features. A clever cup holder...a nice stereo...something!?!

I'd rather have footed 25-28mpg in the Audi and had a more relaxing drive down, it'd have been worth it just for the stereo!

Comparable to a Focus but falls short on many many many levels.

Ermm other cars I don't like...don't get on well with 1.8 20vT VAG engines, throttle response is awful and the lack of high end drama is a real let down on the K03 models. Honda control weights are a little strange at times, hydraulic clutch seems always seem to be about 3-4 inches short on throw. Can't think I've driven anything that has been truly horrid to the point I wanted to jump out at 60mph.

The Cee'd is a grower Tav, we had one as a long termer last year and none of us were that fussed at first but by the time it went back to Kia we'd all been converted. It doesn't do anything badly - the engine's fairly gutsy (if a bit noisy) and was easily doing 45mpg plus. It's comfy on long journeys, seemed to like being chucked around (despite the chassis flex!) and the SW swallows massive loads without batting an eyelid. Ours did 3-4,000 miles per month as a pool car, and never gave us any issues at all. It had done more than 20,000 miles in six months!

Not only that, but it's really good value for money. We had an LS which has cruise control, half leather seats, climate control, MP3 compatible stereo with an ipod hookup and more stuff too. All for under £15k! I agree it's a fairly unexciting car, but does it really fall that far behind a Focus for most people? I reckon no. Most people aren't going to chuck it at a back road at full bore.

Worst car I've ever driven by a country mile - and I've driven a fair few - is the Chevrolet Kalos.

I literally couldn't find anything to like about this. Gutless, wheezy engine which struggled to get more than mid 30s to the gallon. Crashing ride quality, yet loads of roll around corners. Galloping understeer, numb steering, spongy brakes, naff interior, funny plasticky smell inside. You'd have struggled to pass it off as a new car twenty years ago. It's a real stinker. And not that good value either - cost per mile is more than a Corsa 1.3 diesel, which is FAR better to drive. I've driven a couple of Corsas actually, and though I wouldn't buy one they're alright little cars. The new one's hideous and the 1.3 diesel's not a good engine, but it's a little go-kart.

Since starting my new job at a chrysler, jeep and dodge, iv got to say anything built by chrysler jeep and dodge is shite! Most jeeps are awful to drive (apart from the 6.1 ltr hemi!), cant stand them.

All valid points Alex. I drove it over 3 days and about 1000 miles. It didn't do anything badly...it just lacked attention grabbing features. For someone who wasn't particularly fussed about 'the driving experience' it'd be a fine car to run day-to-day.

I'd heard people rant about the Focus' 'class leading handling' but couldn't quite see what the fuss was all about until I drove the Kia. The Focus is so well planted, has great body control and the steering is brilliant. The only thing that lets it down is the plastic-y interior, the weedy 100bhp engine we had and the clunky gear change. Pedals are all weighted very nicely and the brakes were more than up to the task of hauling the mighty bulk down to the required speed.

Yeah, it has to be said Mark that a lot of cars (particularly new cars) are very dull to drive and look at. Very few are actually bad though.

Years ago I had a Lada 1300 ES, and it was far better than many would assume. Yes it was pig ugly, but it wasn't designed to be beautiful. It was however fairly spacious inside, had a very large boot and was virtually unbreakable! The brakes and even the suspension were not bad, 5 link rear end with coilovers as standard and wishbones on the front! It went ok for a 1.3 too.

Its worst driving related feature was the steering. Somehow, the Russian's managed to connect the steering wheel to the front wheels (but not that you'd know it) via an unbelievable sloppy steering box (worm and nut dontcha know!) Literally the wheel would flop around in your hands a quarter of a turn either way with absolutely no change of direction at the wheels! Try and park it though, fucking hell was it heavy! The very worst steering I've ever encountered. So I put a Fiat twin cam in on twin Webers! Oh how we laughed

Got to admit, I've driven most of the "worst cars" on here, yeah, they weren't amazing, but they did the job and I didn't hurt when I got out of them.

fiat cinquecento - I have never ever feared for my life while driving another car. I think I shit myself and refused to ever get in one again, not a good car at all, brakes don't work, engine is too small to get any speed (luckily I was being towed), the whole thing was cheap and nearly rolled over on corners, if I had been in an accident in it I'd have been dead even if it was another person hitting it in a car park. Sooooo glad it wasn't my car. Makes me sweat just thinking of how scary it is.

a much better car but still crap is my mums 1.1 106, it doesn't go anywhere when you press the accelerator...oh wait am I pressing the brake at the same time? (stupid close together peddles) and it bounces like there is no tomorrow when you go over a speed bump.

All my friends love my GT when I take them for a blast in it, I push it hard through the corners and it just sticks. They don't like it as an every day car though as they think its too stiff but thats the way I like it, if it has body roll in a corner then I don't like it

Chevy Lumina APV 3.1. Was OK actually, just epic amounts of body roll. Other than that it was not too shabby.

Best by far is my bros E30 325 Touring. LSD = mint.

I don't get why people hate the Ford KA - I think they're great little cars to drive. Not a motorway cruiser, but they're a go-kart around town/down back roads. More fun than a 1.3 Polo IMHO.
