What kind of welding experience do you have? The welds look messy from the pics. Also i wouldn't bank on these putting the car on the floor as you haven't actually shortened the strut itself. Sorry to be negative about it but these things are worth knowing before buying.

I've enough welding experience, the photos make it look worse than it is :)

i would be happy to use theese on the road, if i wasnt i wouldnt be selling them.

they are going to make way for mk2 coilovers which is why i need the new struts.

did you get any luck finding shortened dampers?

will

use mk1 golf coilover inserts for shortened dampers, 25mm shorter.

Golf dampers are 25mm shorter and Bilstein are the only supplier of inserts i could find, but using them means changing bits around, because the threads and top mounts (one of the two maybe, looked it up ages ago so i forget) are different to polo although Audi bits do work i think. I have the problem sorted i reckon. Once i'm back from uni at xmass i'm gonna throw the bits together and then throw some pics on to explain what I've been up 2! If it IS actually slammed that is! :? :-)

PS Heysey; do you know anyone who actuallly used golf inserts or did you do it urself??

Again I'm not trying to p*ss on anyones fires or anything just trying to find out more!

yes yoof has golf inserts in his, I'm just going to move the steering arm down on mine because I want to use the koni adjustable polo inserts I already have. Yoof uses audi top mounts on his to get around the thickness of the piston rods problem.

dont mean to be funny mate...

But those welds - seriously!

and to help with the sale - audi 80 (1980-1992) top mounts will fit the mk1 golf shock/polo body

Part No 8A0 412 323D - remember u will also need the correct nut etc etc

and as previously mensioned a mk1 golf coilover damper fit 25mm shorter legs

the sharpening on the photos has made the welds look awful in reality they are fine, good penetration all the way round (yes, i looked inside them with a torch) the coilover tubes are only stitched on i see no advantage to seaming them.
