I have big alloys on my 9n polo and as a result the bushes are wearing down quickly, replacing them is becoming expensive and tme consuming. I would like to know where i can purchase or what i need to upgrade these bushes. I am willing to spend up to a total of around 200 all round for replacing all four bushes.

Can anybody give me any reccommendations as to where i can purchase some bushes that will ensure i will not need to replace them for a long time.

I am also looking for an all round coilover kit, anybody know what kit would be best suited to my 9n.

P.S i am driving A Polo 2002 E55.

I have done a facelift on the car to the new shape GTI, but i doubt this would change anything.

There are only 2 front subframe bushes.

The best bet is to replace them with seat ibiza cupra ones, they're solid rather than voided.

This is the reason why they keep on failing, due to the voids, they're just a crap design.

Theres a really good guide over on the skoda forum with pics and everything. Think its briskoda.net or something like that. Also on there about changing your arb and bushes. I used it to do mine and will replace the voided ones eventually and yes the cupra ones are the best bet. Not expensive t buy but a pain in the rear to change.

great bit of info that, i changed the ones on my misses 9n a few months back, wish id known this then lol

is this reccomended to do would yous say? i haven't done it but i do plan to fit my coilovers soon, but i want it to all eb done together so is there anything else that needs changing except the drop links? also how much are them cupra bushes?

I was thinking of getting some powerflex bushes for my polo 9N... but I'm confused as to which ones i need! i want the ones for front wishbone but the thing is there are different sizes...

I'm changing the front and rear bushes in the front wishbones next week and i'm going to go with the seat cupra rear bush and powerflex front bush as this seems to be the recomended set up for handling and comfort (and the seat bushes are only about £8 each!) The different sizes you refer to are for the anti-roll bar bushes. Just measure the thickness of your anti-roll bar where the bushes clamp round. ( the earlier bars have a plastic sleeve where bushes clamp, later or updated ones did away with plastic sleeve as it cracks/falls off allowing sideways movement and banging noises!) I also got some of the vw assembly lubricant as reccomended on briskoda forum to make life easier.

I'm now going for the powerflex kit, all round including anti roll bar, much needed, i hear knocking sounds every time the wheel rotates now and i dont want to drive unless its going in to the garage! HOPEFULLY the powerflex ones will last! 18's really do some nasty wear and tear! well worth it lol.

BTW

any easy way to measure up that antiroll bar size? is there no way i can find out what size i need, like say i ring up vw and quote my reg or chassis No.

sorry to bring up an old topic, but you say the cupra bushes are the best, what year did the model with the same bushes start getting made and when did it end same as 9n? 2002-2005?

And if possible please could you tell me where i can pick some up, going to a dealer they would only say we need a chassis or registration we cant help you otherwise sir...

People say its not worth the hassle putting in bushes its cheaper to buy the whole arm, so I'm wondering, should i do this?

This is correct it's basically 4 plastic legs attached to a disc that fit in the 4 corners of the void. I've put cupra ones on my cordoba and they have been fine so far. They were a bugger to fit though.

Fit the ibiza cupra rear beam mounting bushes to the rear and the ibiza cupra to the rear wishbones and the powerflex to the front wishbone it handles amazing :-D i just did it to mine but it took 3 days
