why retain the arb? the arbs the worst link in the suspension.

you dont need to remove it and have wishbones to make your car handle better - the main failure of the suspension is the cars inability to deal with chassis flex.

by using a subframe to joist the antirollbar mounting points you will see much better cornering as the rollbar will not be moving back and forward with the flex (which might i add is MASSIVE - esspecially offside where there is that bolted on plate)

admittedly the car should handle better with the wishbone arms - but how far do you want to go? you dont really need it unless your planning on world domination and not just a quick potter up the bypass against a saxo.

and is making the suspension independant (no rollbar) the best way forward???? - I've seen the new salzmann subframe which retains the rollbar and the wishbone setup! Why did they put it back in???????????????????????

to be honest, this is an argument discussed far and wide for both accounts, the mk2 escort boys have argued about it forever and a day as the setup is essentially the same.

the extremities are it is down to personal preference at the end of the day. It also depends what you intend to use your car for.

Most cars with the subframe are lowered a reasonable amount so body roll will be minimal anyway. I wouldnt like to drive a polo with standard springs and shocks with the ARB removed and a subframe stuck in its place.

salzmann have always done a subframe with an adjustable arb in fairness. if your out and out tarmac setup it would be quite useful
