orite all, got meself a runabout while i GT the polo,

its a 1400cc 1988 mk2 ford fiesta giah,

having some problem with the engine!

idles fine but when i come to accelerate it bogs out then picks up again!

I've had a leek in the radiator and had to keep topping it up and recently has been low on water but hasnt traveled far!

also the fan is staying on all the time, even when the batery is just turned on and the engine aint running?

there is also a brown and white wire which is disconnected, but I'm not sure if it was ever connected to anything? its right near the headlight loom!

please can anyone help me!!!

Not even trying to be a funny fucker but my mate had 3 of these, low mileage, full service history, and the engines were terrible. Sounded like an old coach engine in 40 degree heat.

If it bogs down initially, it could be a fault with the carb. The accelerator pump in the carb could be fucked. Perhaps leaking or something. It perhaps needs a service.

2 of the 3 of my mates Fiestas also had a problem where the temperature gauge failed too, so the fan problem could be down to a piece of loom rubbing against the chassis and now shorting out?

As if its CVH lump isnt bad enough,the twin choke Ford Venturi carb has a Pierburg-level reputation.

But its likely just a leak in the intake - either the carb seat or manifold-head gasket.

Or just drop in a 2.0 Zetec from a Mundano,use '1.8 130' cams and some big bike carbs for a good 160bhp.

Should all bolt in quite easily for about 400 quid.
