Breaking '96 Mk.4 6N 1.9D CL 5 door

Featured Replies

Almost complete car in reasonable nick but can't get engine to work after fitting replacement Lucas diesel injection pump.

Could be wiring loom / immobiliser fault, fooked pump, or some other botch caused by previous replacement Bosch pump.

Good points : Most body panels, stock light clusters, wiper motors, electric front windows, airbag steering wheel, glass, interior.

Rear shocks & rear under bumper valance (new in May)

Bad points : Engine no workin' - 140k miles and heavy oil breather deposits.

Gearbox was 5 speed - only 4 speed now!

Hole cut in drivers interior door panel.

Exhaust shot & Alloys spoken for.

Located in Fife, Scotland.

I'd only be looking for about £25 for the door, but as it's a pretty hefty item you'd be looking at £50 inc. UK mainland delivery...

clutch/flywheel, delivered price please ?

(mine's a R-reg dual mass jobby)

Don't think this model has dual mass flywheel, but if you want the unit off this, it'll be about a week before I have time to get engine & gearbox out to strip things.

£30 delivery included ok?

let me know how things go, afaik it

has to be the dual mass jobby, bloody

car, wish i aint bought it tbh.

cheers.

 Aye - they're great when they work properly...

Always thought the dual mass jobs came in much later with the TDi range.

i wish, this thing did a grand self destruct,

mine looks exactly the same as yours, i've

been trying to find a solid flywheel kit to convert

the bugger, for £30 i'll risk it tbh. just glad i've

got plenty more VAG bangers to play with !

These all come with dual mass, makes the chuggy engine smoother pull away. Pic and price on diesil pump, was it new ?

Thanks for the flywheel info!

Diesel pump was bought on E-bay for £70.50 and was listed as good working pump :

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...em=180299095634

Was clean and complete when received.

Hard to prove pump is at fault here cos I suspect wiring loom / immobiliser fault is resulting in fuel cut off solenoids not opening correctly.

£50 for all seats inc. headrests.

Collection only - I am not getting into wrapping and posting car seats ever again...

Yes, I know - there's some unsightly stains on the seat bases, but I just haven't had time to get the upholstery shampoo out!

No rips or tears there though, and back seats are excellent condition...

No worries guz - you're top of list, and I'd better get the damn thing out and checked to make sure it's 'merchantable quality' before I ask for your cash!

Folding stuff is best for me, but PayPal, cheques or PO's will do when stuff is ready for despatch...

i usually Paypal as 'gift' so you don't

get any fees, gimme a shout when you're

sorted, the motor's been sat since June so

there's no hurry.

cheers.

Hi Guz - sorry mate - the flywheel from my other Polo was shot :-(

Took the gearbox off today and there was a hundred oily bits of clip, spring, washer, spacer and swarf with a hole the size of a penny worn through into the gearbox bellhousing. Maybe it's what's left of the fifth gear, but I suspect the flywheel assembly has worn out the hole and let the gear oil spew into the clutch area, and the loose metal is from the dual mass assembly falling apart.

Haven't got the clutch apart yet cos I still need a tool to fit the splined bolts, but the clutch plate wobbles relative to the main flywheel so it's totally gubbed...

Obviously, I've gotta take my chances fitting the higher mileage one from this, but that's banger economics...

If it's any consolation, Partco say they've got a deal on new dual mass flywheels - £100 off, so that's them down to about £250.

ah well, gotta find a solid flywheel conversion

soon then or there'll be another bugger being

broken down here.

(anyone PM-ing me about it will get a right

royal round of f*cks off me BTW)

Probably not advisable mate - there's a wee ding (would fill easily) in the front of this one, and the rear of the wheel arch is a bit rusty...

Sorry, but it's yours free to come and remove & take away if still interested. Posted, it would probably be £20..?

Hi, has the instrument cluster (speedo etc) got a rev counter?
