POLO 6N EXHAUST FLAME THROWER

Featured Replies

I'm thinking about buying this flame thrower kit:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...em=220292451179

for my VW Polo 6n 1.4 liter 8 valve. Thing is I'm not sure if a 1.4 has got enough power for this to work properly? I guess it won't but has anyone out there got any ideas or has anyone successfully got a 1.4 to flame up?

Come on xcore, that ain't exactly constructive is it? I suspect poo, wee and bottom are other strong words in your vocabulary too huh!

Anyway, I'm not looking to roll about with it on all the time as that would be, as xcore put it, 'gay'. I just want to add something visual to the car so it stands out a bit at shows.

heya pal if you buy it you can test it on my car lol. I have the same engine and I've wondered bout this before. most people who I've seen with these have escorts who rag them like crap for a few seconds fun and in my experiance they just dont look cool (the driver not the flames lol) so i decided against it.... but I've wondered if the size of your exhaust back box makes a differance too. i have a working! twin exhaust with twin 5in pipes. just thought i would add that to your board.

cheers

sorry but i just dont find the attraction to things like this, but yea feel free to do what you want to your car blah blah

iv read the ebay description... seems to me that it works best on high performance cars/turbos. though, has anyone had any experience with these things to prove that it wont work on lower powerd cars?

might be worth a go if youv got 45quid of spare cash....

run your mixture slightly richer get a 4branch manifold, decat, straight through center and a low baffle back box and you will get flames the proper way

too expensive  12mpg FTL

my mixtures abit rich and no flames as of yet! lol.

Theres a guy with a mk2 who can pop flames without a flamer kit. Saw him at tatton park and this years polo show.

Oh for fuck sake why would you want to fit one of these stupid devices? What is the point of it? Why would you want to have flames coming out of your exhaust? You're only driving a poxy 1.4 Polo, not a top fuel dragster!

It isn't big, it isn't clever and it is really rather childish.

If you want to make your car stand out at shows, why don't you clean it up as much as possible? Not just a quick splosh with a sponge but a real proper clean inside and out. Polish and wax the bodywork, then clean and detail under the bonnet, the engine, inside the door shuts etc - everything as clean as possible.

It'll make the car look so much nicer and doesn't cost much to do.

I'd want to fit one of these stupid devices to add something visual to the car and the point of it is to stand out a bit at shows. And as to why I would want flames coming out of my poxy 1.4 polo, which indeed isn't a top fuel dragster - surly that's just the first question but in a different shoes, right?

However, indeed it isn't big (will fit in spare wheel recess) it isn't clever (no computer, just a spark plug) and with regards to being childish - I wouldn't let my children play with a flame thrower! An A La Carte Kitchen maybe, but a flame thrower no!

The cars lookin really clean anyway, scroll to the top of this page to see it. But a clean car is still just a static visual improvement, I thought having flames would be a nice little extra.

Does anyone know if this kit will work if all I do is remove the cat and fit the kit? Nice one for the heads up on changing the manifold etc but for less than £50 this'll be better and quicker to do.

i used to have mine flamin when i had my full custom on (de-cated), and thats without a flamer kit.... although the timing is advanced using the vas machine at work :D

But you've got a 16v polo haven't you? If I got a custom install like you had, do you think it'd work on a 8v polo?

m8 your car looks nice it dont need a shity flame thrower kit on it

Thanks matey! But humpf, it seems that rather a few people don't rate exhaust flames!

To anyone reading this can you post a 'yay or nay' so I can see if this is gonna be worth doing??

My old 1.05 used to.

Think a knackered exhaust valve may have been linked to it

if you wanna do it - just do it. Theres gonna be alot of people that say no because its ot scene or whatever. At the end of the day, its your car and you're the one who has to pay to run the thing so do what you like to it.

nout to do with scene I'm afraid

I'm not a dubber at all n i think they look crap n I'm not sure what your trying to achieve with this?

paint your car bright pink that'll make you stand out!

so nay to the exhaust flame spark plug drilled into exhaust thingy ma bob, utter utter rolex

can i have my mail redirected to the back of that?

I guess one way to see if it would work would be to get one of those camping stove starters - you know, they are about 15cm long and produce a spark (not a flame) when the button is pressed. And armed with that, stick it in the end of the exhaust and spark it wile a chum gives it some beans on the throttle. If it'll flame, it should from doing that right?
