1989 (g) Scirocco Scala I

Featured Replies

Right I bought the Scirocco about a month back just on impulse really, driven it like 1000miles and its just sat outside my house since. So its up for sale as cars are ment to be driven and its not basically.

The car is a Scirocco Scala 1.8i

Was built in 1989 and sold to a bloke in aberdeen who owned it for 3 years until 1992 when he p/x it back to Speciallist Cars Volkwagen in Aberdeen, it was kept by VW as a staff car until 2008 when it was used as a show car to put along side the arrival of the latest Scirocco when it was launched. It was then put up for sale and snapped up by a dealer local to me, 2 days later I bought it off that dealer. So the car is 2 owners from new, the second owner being VW.

As you can imagine with VW owning it the service history is massive, its kept in a folder that became full in 2000 and they still added to it.

So to the spec,

ENIGINE:

1.8 multipoint injection engine (same as Mk1 Golf GTI) with 126,000 miles.

Had a full service every 2-3,000 miles by VW since 1992

Engine is completely standard,

Done 100 miles since last service,

Also had a head rebuild 100 miles ago,

Pulls very well and starts first time every time.

EXTERIOUR:

Body work is very straight for a 19 year old motor.

Some slight bubbles of rust on the bonnet but thats all,

Colour I believe to be moonstone blue but not sure (looks very silver to me)

Had a full respray in 2002 after it got the offside door replaced due to a hit and run incident (going by the service history)

Standard Scala alloy wheels, been refurbed at some point and have no curbing that I have noticed. Wrapped in 185/60/14 michelan tyres all look brand new.

Interiour:

The interiour is a 'lasky white' interiour, one of the 4 options that were available on the Scala models

very clean and tidy, one small cigarette burn in the drivers seat

Dashboard very clean and tidy, everything works,

MFA works now aswell, fun thing to play with,

3 point seatbelts in the rear (apparently an optional extra?)

GOOD POINTS:

11 Months MOT

6 Months Tax

BAD POINTS:

Right no 19 year old car is perfect, so heres the bad bits,

Occasionally revs kinda high on tick over (between 1400 and 1600 rpm) Doesn't affect how the car drives however.

Recently a bad earth has occured and when the headlights are on the instrument panel refuses to work, I shall get the looked at soon though.

Pictures:

Only got a few when it was on the forecourt of the dealer i got it from and they are shocking, can take more if needed.

PRICE:

Right I'm just looking for sensible offers on it to start with, I don't know what its worth and I'm not in a hurry to sell. I'm open to offers with p/x's aswell.

If you would like to put an offer in reply to this or PM me, if you want any other details/pictures whatever I'll see what I can do.

I'll give you two chickens. I'll even southern fry them for you. That's your highest offer yet!

£350?

£350?

MEGA LOLZ

Rocco's are not worth much at all to be fair.

£350 is way too low but as said roccos dont fetch that much. MrP on here just got an absolute mint GTX (i think) for £750. It is immaculate. Good luck with the sale though. Cracking looking car :-)

£350 is a bit low, the work its had done on it in the last month is probably worth about that. I would also like a bit more than £750 for it aswell, due to how mint it is, the history of the car and the amount of service history it has, i.e. a folder full. It is a cracking car for its age and I'm sure just a few regular sevices will keep it going strong for years to come.
