polo g40, 80k genuine. red j plate. was in pristine condition until he melted a piston. since then it has been sat about for over a year. original wheels etc etc clean body. some un happy neighbour put the back and side windows through but didn't damage the body. a week before it was off the road it had new brakes and wheel bearings all round.

all parts to put back together, engine is out and split it needs a piston and poss a set of rings. offers close to 1k as poss. delivery can be arranged.

f + r gearbox mounts already fabricated need passenger side mount and drivers side mount welded.

car shell is clean bar rear arches and had bbs kit fitted which was screwed - not riveted into the drivers side sill and over the years havs rotted away. so you will need to buy a sill £30. front wings have been pulled and new rear arches were to be fitted and pulled.

this was due to be an amazing trick car the dash is amazing and ready wired in. 95% there needs a little fabrication and an exhaust also the bodywork finished off.

not looking to split as it's all parked outside my house as he has nowhere to store the car, delivery can also be arranged at cost.

would you sell the g40 engine for the golf seperatly? with all the trimmings.

not really looking to split as i really wanted to get it all shifted together and it'd be a shame to let the super rare and custom built dash go to waste as all the dash interior loom has been built to plug into the g40 loom.

if i'd consider asking him to break it it would be engine, ecu, loom, ATV box, inlet pipe and ancillaries and would have to be real good money to make me split it for him.

it was originally my project i was going to put together last year. got all the bits together, took the engine out of a perfectly good G40 sourced all the coily's, braces, linkages, wheels etc etc and had a 1980 small light mk1 golf to transplant the lot into.

took the shell to a garage to have some welding done, while it was in there i bought the '83 mk1 gti to fly about in, after 5 months of being messed about by the garage i gave up with the '80 mk1. i would have put it into the '83 shell but while i was waiting i'd been doing it up and transplanted a mk2 gti 1800 lump with efi.

so i fitted the mk1 with all the goodies i'd bought for the 1980 model and sold the g40 running gear/dash loom etc etc to my best mate as he was going to fit it in his caddy.

anyway sold the gti to another mate, after some time he offered it back to me (2months ago) i couldn't resist so i bought it back, i spoke to my mate who i sold the G40 stuff to and tryed talking it off his hands but he wasn't having any of it, instead he ended up talking me out of the gti and transplanting the G40 into the GTI shell for him as i'd done a couple before.

all was going well until he lost his job and got kicked out of his flat and moved into somewhere with no storage/parking so he asked if he could put it at my house. this was a month or so ago and i really need it shifted! if i had the cash i'd buy it back myself!

enough of the life story, this is really why i want it to go as a project and to be completed.

hello mate, am not in position to throw a huge amount of money at an engine now, other stuff has come up, which sucks. But i am planning on putting a g40 into my mk1 as soon as money comes my way, but.... i haven't done an engine conversion before so its all new ground for me, did you ever write a guide on how to do it? any problems you came about etc, g40 gearbox and driveshafts? wiring? how did you modify engine mounts to fit or did you alter chassis (you probably know of alot more problems than i have eventhought of yet) if not have you got the time to do one? I know it might be a big ask but I'm desperate to do it and advice would be much appreciated. Let me know dude, cheers,
