hay guys just having a look at bulbs and found this by FK, does anyone have them or herd bout them? are they any good? or is there better ones then this?

I bought some cheap-ish ones like this and found that they were bright, just didn't have the blue effect i was after.

So i've bought some better branded ones: Phillips Blue Vision

I haven't fitted them yet, but I'll let you know what they're like?

Ok, i should have them fitted in a few days.. and yeah, that's why I bought them, good reviews :)

I got mine from powerbulbs. They have an internet site, but also an ebay shop where they are 10 quid less.

And no, I don't know anything about the Halford's range, sorry. Decided to go for a proper brand this time.

In all honesty, i wouldn't bother with 12v/55w bulbs.

On my mk4 polo, the amount of power given by the battery/alternator isn't enough to produce a true light from the bulbs. I had Osram Night Breaker bulbs in my car which looked great in my mates Suzuki Swift and rubbish in my polo.

IMO i would go for some 100w bulbs as they are guarenteed to be brighter.

They may not be fully road legal but in this day and age when plenty of cars are rolling off the production line with xenon lights, i really don't think a police man is going to bother stopping you for bright white lights - just make sure they're not too blue!

They're still the night breakers at the moment but they're going into my dad's jag and i've ordered some xenons for my polo. Again, they're illegal as they're not meant for non-projector lights and i have ordered a high heat temperature giving them an illegal tint but round here the police aren't bothered as long as it doesn't upset anybody else.

And when you say you've ordered some xenons, do you mean like an HID conversion kit. Don't they come with the projector ball thing?

If not, then what are you paying for with the conversion kit? Just xenon bulbs?

Sorry yes, i was referring to being pulled by Police but you're right they will possibly fail the MOT. However, this isn't really an issue either as it takes 5 mins to swap them back over before the MOT.

I've ordered an HID conversion kit and i'm not aware what the projector ball is? I just thought you got a poor beam pattern unless used with projector lense lights.

I disagree TBH. I have heard of melting the head lamps but only in rare cases and it's normally glass head lamps that shatter from the heat instead of plastic ones melting... surely the plastic is formed at temperatures higher than that anyway?

Also, i ran 100w bulbs for ages in my corsa and it never fried the wiring either...

Yes, if you were to upgrade to angel eye headlights they have projector lenses. Newer polos and corsas and stuff also have projector lens headlights, most cars do nowadays i think.

up to you on the wiring , i know for sure 100 watters kill golf wiring and switches , corsas must be made of stonger stuff

just think of my post when you headlight switch melts in the middle on no where one night

The projector is there to get rid of glare and disperse light proprerly. But HIDS4U are selling the HID kit and are offering bulbs that wont give glare in standard lights for an extra £10.

Thing with projectors is if you see the headlights coming from a distance, at an angle, the light looks very very blue. (Especially Mercs and Chrysler 300C's I've noticed) But as soon as you look head on at it, they appear more white.

Theres only a few standard cars with factory fitted Xenons in non-projector headlights and they are running anti-glare bulbs.

so running HIDs wid projectors are legal then? as HIDs by themselfs are illigal?

No, apparently HIDs by themselves but with anti-glare bulbs are legal i think. Legal with projectors too.

Also, I tried the Phillips Blue Visions and they are pretty bright, but not blue at all :(

You can buy 55W/100W bulbs with the 55W being dipped and the 110W on main beam. Also some of these blue bulbs can look a bit weird in your headlights as the blue reflects on the replector making the headlight look a bit blue, especially in crystal headlights!
