No; the handle for adjusting the position of the seat (forward and backward) is in the wrong place. There's a small bracket to be cutoff and rewelded to the correct side of the drivers seat. The passenger seat just needs the same mechanism moving via two screw on brackets to the correct side.

I have a set of GT seats (very similar to G40) for sale that have already been converted if you are interested.

Unless VW changed the layout of the front bracket that holds the front of the seat to the floorpan on later MK2's? On my MK1 and MK2 the pin that unlocks the seat so you can move the seat forward and back is nearest the inner sills. The mechanism on a GT seat is on the side facing the gearlever, so they won't match up.

I'm just speculating here,never done it,and can write out a full small-print essay on request if required.

But.. What difference does it make which side the handle is on? The runner is the same,it shouldnt matter whether the pin goes in from the left or right,the holes go straight through.

The seats may be different but given that I'm informed the floor is the same,the seat should fit perfectly without modification?

mk3 GT seats have gone straight into my 89 mk2, as did the scirocco seats before.

This is the mount from my 78 Derby, which is the same as the one on our 83 MK2.

Drivers side mount:-

This is the drivers side seat (RHD) with the seat adjuster handle bracket relocated to match up with mechanism.

I suspect that the bracket on the floorpan of later MK2's was reversed so the pin slides in from the right instead of the left.
