da_flo´s mk3 >>small update April 10<<

Featured Replies

hello everybody,

my name is florian,i´m 20 years old and from the homecountry of the polo...from germany!

you might wonder, why i joinded this board...well,peter better knwon as "steilheckpolo" is a member of the german "polomagazin",just like me.

i´m pleased, that there is such a great polo-community besides germany.

so far,i´d like to introduce my ´lil treasure:

my polo was born in october 1990 (one of the first 2F´s) as the light-version fox.i bought it in march 2006 as my second car.my intention is to modify the polo only with original parts and stick to the possibility to switch back to the old shape easily.

what´s special?

-sunroof

-leather steering-wheel

-chrome covers in the doorhandles instead of black ones

-red line in the bumpers

-13 inch aluminium rims

-gearshift knob of a golf 1 gti

-black/red rear lights

-white flashers

-cigarette lighter expanded (not for smoking but for my navigation)

-keys from porsche 944 and from beetle

-"objects in rear view mirror..." on the right mirror-glas

-selfmade doorpins

and soon: gamma mk4 with cd-changer

and stuff like that ;)

so far,i hope it´s not an mpertinence to read my english :)

if there is anything u want to know... just ask.

bye,

florian

ps:i hope i chose the correct board-if not feel free to switch it

Very clean! :-) And willkommen! Were the alloy wheels on the car when you bought it?

  • Author

THANKS :)

i´ve bought these aluminium wheels at a car trade chain called "ATU".they aren´t special but i like it :).i refined them with original vw-logo caps.

the alloy wheels (first picure) are only for the wintertime for standing.i only drive my polo from april to september.it´s a funcar and not my main-car.

YEEEHAA!

it´s april and my polo is back on the road :)

couple of weeks ago,the polo went to the body shop-the area around the battery was damn rusty.

the last months i collected several oem-parts for my ride:gamma mk4 radio with 6 times changer, soundsystem taken from a german genesis model, interlior light with delay,oem-antenna,some stickers, headlamp protectors etc...

unfortunately the headlamp protectors doesn´t fit, they are for the 6n models...jesus i was pissed because of that :x . :tear: if someone has got a pair of them left, please get in touch with me.

anyway.now i´m stil waiting for my new leather steering wheel.the next days,i´ll order some stickers like the fading vw logos, several info stickers etc.

the next weeks i´m going to install my genesis system and replace some parts for example the rear spoiler.

at least...some pictures.as u can see the rust is vey impressive.looks like a breading of a viennese schnitzel  .the last picture shows my selfmade doorpins...

comments welcome :)

:roll::unibrow: *excavate*

after a long and horrible month my polo is back on the road 8-)

i got some new parts like a new grill, new badges and stuff like that.but more interesting is my new oem stuff :)

as there is:

-caps for the wheel-bolts

-gamma 4 with cd-changer

-german genesis (was a different type...like a sporty and luxury one) soundsystem with 2x passive subwoofers, wiring and indash speakers

-original chrome antenna

-window cranks from a audi 80

-side carpeting in the trunk

-ignition key wich looks like the key of an old bug

-cover for the car battery

-aaaand HEADLAMP PROTECORS !

thanks again to my mate, wich sold the egr´s for small money.unfortunately the cd-changer is out of order so i´ll try to get a usb/sd card box instead of this silly changer.so,there is no opinion,i have to record some casettes -old car-oldschool entertainment methods

last but not least:my paintjob will receive some love...some good paint cleaner, polish and a special sealing.

i´ll try to lend a digital reflex camera...so maybe there will be some better photos soon :)

couple of unspectacular pic´s:

comments are welcome!!

i like the 2nd last picture best it looks very very shiny like a mirror. ;)

need some pics of the genesis sound system! never seen how it fits in the boot, and a pic of your "treasured" headlamp protectors on.

thanks richard!

indeed,i invested some hours in my ´lil olop.the original wiring of the radios took some time, about two weeks.after one day i was pissed off and had to take a rest =)

i´ll get up some pictures of the soundsystem and the headlamp protectors..but it will take some time *smiling*.

cheers dude!

so... in the end,i managed it to take down two pictures of my genesis soundsystem:

genesis-system1.JPG

genesis-system2.JPG

the 1 liter bottle isn´t a part of the system  it´s just for comparison.it´s nearly complete, only the two 4x6 rear speakers are missing.YET :D

so, long time ago that i ´ve had posted something up. my polo hass been back on the road since april 2010. unfortunately the tornadored is fading into tornadopink in some areas -partly on the roof and around the frontscreen. i´ll prepare the paint with some special dosh, polish from menzerna and wax of collnite. i hope it will work :)

anyway, i purchased some cool OEM parts while the polo was out of the season-range.

as there is:

-rear speakers of the genesis-soundsystem

- noise-absorbent mat for the bonnet (taken from a diesel)

-heatable jets of the wipe/wash system (did u get that? sounds stupid :D )

-schooner for the boot sill (taken from a STYLE)

-relay number 36 (creates a buzz when you open the door and the lights are still on)

-circuit board for a delay of the interior light ( got it out of a golf 2)

-thick trunk mat

-enough upholstery for making a pillowcase :D

-votex rubber floor mats

-lupo birefcase

and the very best:

- a zender splitter for the boot lid with integrated stop light :)

it´s rare as gold. i have neither seen it mounted on a polo, nor offerd at ebay or any shops.

spoiler.jpg

sad but true, i´m running out of oemish ideas at the moment. some parts aren´t offerd at the moment for example a good leather steering wheel ot a special dampingpart below the engine wich was only mounted at diesel polos.

i struggle hard to present this car at the show, but i think i´ll come as a co-driver. currently the vacation-term has to be clearified by my company.

cheers!

sounds like you have been busy da flo!

where do all the wee brackets and genesis bits go? i know 1 bass bin goes on the right when you open the boot and the two speaker/tweeters go in the dash but where does the other one go and the wee funny shapped bracket?

never seen that zender rear spoiler either most i have seen are home made so very nice :unibrow:

is relay number 36 just plug and play?

is relay number 36 just plug and play?

Hmm, wouldn't mind knowing this!

  • Author

hey rich!

als you already have mentioned, one of the subwoofers is installed in the boot on the right sight. the second one is on the right side below the dash. and this is my problem: german genesis had some bolts with windings, but my fox doesn´t has that. so i´ll try to glue some bolts with 2k glue.otherwise i´ll spot-tack two bolts when the polo is getting restored.

http://www.tobias-albert.de/genesis_ahf_2.jpg

here you can see the position of the speaker in the boot

http://www.tobias-albert.de/ta_polo/polohi...enesis_vorn.jpg

and that´s the sevond one below the dash. the battery is right above the subwoofer, so you can get an idea about the position.

indeed, i love this splitter. to be honest, i´ve never seen a customized original splitter :F

the relay has to be fitted, but it´s not a big deal. you have to wire it with the front or the rear lights (left and right) and the door contact wich switches the interior light. you´ll should change this switch and use the one of a passat 35i, or it also buzzes when the co-driver door is open.

Edited by da_flo

cool there great pictures!

you need to get them fitted!!

you still coming to the polo show? would be good to meet you and talk polo.

"schooner for the boot sill" is that the plastic bit along the boot sill? UK boulevards were fitted with them only. :-(
