Wierd creaking noise since i fitted coilovers.

Featured Replies

Hey, i fitted coilovers on my 6N2 about 6 months ago, and ever since, when the car is on full lock and i turn (to do a u-turn or whatever), it makes a loud horrible creaking noise which it never made before fitting coilovers.

Anyone else have similar problems? (They're TA Technix ones), and what is the creaking noise, i hope its nothing dangerous?

Helps appreciated,

Dave.

16x7 bbs rx2, on 195/45/16s and down about 50-60mm,

Only does the noise on full lock though.

Any ideas? :D

It's probably rubbing on the splashguards, or something isn't done up tight enough? Have a look don't ignore it, put it on full lock get out and see whats happening under there (Y)

It doesn't sound like a rubbing noise, the only way i can describe it is, when you undo rusty wheelnuts that haven't been removed in a while and they creak all the way out, thats what it sounds like (although it isn't my wheelnuts i check them regularly), only does it on full lock to the right too, so the noise is coming from the drivers side.

I had them fitted by a VW specialist too, so i will take them back and see if they can identify it.

Cheers guys, any more suggestions will be helpful too. :)

i suggest you tighten up the platforms on your coilovers at whatever height you set it at. when your getting close to full lock it will be turning the springs on the platforms and making the noise

So everytime i'm on full lock its spinning the spring, therefore making it higher/lower gradually?

I'm gonna have a look tommorow if its dry as I'm not using the car at the moment anyway.

Thanks for advice :).

is it sort of a clicking noise? could od your cv joints? mine used to do it cos i was so low u can feel it through steering a bit as well
