I had a paypal address that i never use anymore, and i just completely blanked it. I've just had a letter threw the door from a debt collector saying that i owe 50 quid to paypal. so I've just went on the paypal site and it says I'm only -£19.

whats going on??

probably best taking that up with paypal as they will know about your case rather than arbitrary people on a car forum =/

anyway is theres a letter from the debt collecter they may have charged you for the privelage of actually sending you a letter (which is nice of them)

failing that, pay what you owe and everyones happy

Does this letter have all of your information on?

If it's really PayPal, they shouldn't have really disclosed details or anything like that.

E-mail them, telling them about the letter, and treat it as highly suspicious until you hear from them.

just emailed them, found it a bit strange! the reason I'm posting it on here is to see if anyone else have heard of this? and also the other day i got a phone-call to my mobile saying it was paypal, they asked some details then i said i dont want to talk about my details over the phone.

id just pay off the paypal balance and then its all sorted and then you know ebay and paypal have no business phoning or sending you letters =]

Paypal screwed me once, i had £100 sent to me for some wheels i sold, so the balance was £95 (Or there abouts), Long story short Paypal refunded this person his £100 so my balance was then minus £5 which i thought was a piss take.

Sold an amp on fleabay a whlle ago. money sent via paypal so i sent the amp out. Thebuyer says he never recived the amp and files a disagreement with ebay who gave him his money back, even though i could prove it was sent.

You're right to not give out details over the phone. If paypal want you, theyll send you an email. Letters are probably scams.

It doesn't make sense that you are allowed to make a transaction and then stop it by filing a dispute, I had the same problem with some pikeys and a fake Louis Vuitton bag through eGay [they had used authentic and genuine pictures of a bag, which were not actually of the bag they were selling]

Paypal advised me to file the dispute to stop the money and then by one advisor I was told to close the dispute so the pikeys could refund me, as they can't refund me with the dispute still open as the money is locked. So I closed the dispute after being told to do so by paypal and promised a refund by the inbreds, on that basis I did so. Still no refund after nearly a week and being promised that they had sent it numerous times.

I called paypal again to be told by another advisor I should never have closed the dispute, because it meant that I had agreed to the this case being settled, but it wasn't and I was still £350 outta pocket. I had to put up with the slags pikey dad ringing me up giving me verbal - Paypal or eBay would now do nothing to help me. I soon threatened him with a CCJ and the police if he didn't refund me by the end of the week [he forgot that I had his address and telephone number, I was gonna go and get my money myself] within 2 minutes of hanging up from that phone call with that dick, I got mail to say a refund had been sent.

Lesson learned, I bought my Louis Vuitton bag off eGay again but from America this time and from and an authenticated seller.

Paypal sucks and I only use it for eGay because it's quick and easy, if there was another well known and trusted way online of sending and receiving money, I would be using them for sure.

i had a letter saying i owed £60 then i had a letter saying £80

stupid debt collectors kept calling me so i just paid it off

i got a letter from another debt collector saying they are coming round my house on tuesday to pick up £20

I've spent an absolute fortune on callin their 0870 numbers and they said i dont owe them money, but the debt collectors just say i do

if the debt collectors are coming round, ask to see as much paperwork as possible and if they say they are removing goods to the value, they'll have to have a warrant.

It does sound dodgy that they've sent the bailiffs round. I'd ring paypal and speak to someone in charge, complain like fook and tell the arsewhipes to sort it out.
