1997 Vw T4 Transporter 2.4d Syncro

Featured Replies

Reluctantly selling my 1997 vw transporter syncro, its in very straight condition, has a few rust spots and a 2 dings but for one of these vans its in very good nick, also has a smallish crack on the screen but its not got any worse while I've had it! its never done heavy work, was used as a wedding caterers van so the interior is in excellent cond, the rear is ply lined(from new) which is in perfect condition, front and rear headlining is in excellent condition with no rips/tears. The seats are fitted with genuine vw washable seatcovers. The van is standard, apart from front clear indicators( originals included).

Its still on its orignal front and rear number plates whcih helps prove the van hasn't been in any bumps (panel gaps are perfect too).

I bought the van to convert into a semi camper/dayvan but haven't got or had the time due to work and stuff happening at home. I did plan to lower it, fit side windows and a rock and roll bed etc but i genuinely am short of spare time!

The van has a noisy tappet, I've ran the van for 1300miles like it and its not missed a beat. I have double checked it is the tappets, its not the vac pump that has failed (this makes a similar noise) and with it running at camshaft speed it cant be anything else so theres no need to worry about bottom end prooblems as the engine runs very well and pulls very well and doesn't smoke excessively! Tappets are available from Euro car parts for 88quid so its not an expensive fix!

The van is Superb to drive, ideal as a camper conversion or a work van. With it being the 2.4 5cyl diesel its nice and torquey, so it will tow without problems.

Brakes are spot on, as is the clutch and suspension.

This van is mot'd until next july and taxed until the end of march.

In august it had an oil change, and both the cambelt and the pump belt replaced (i have the invoice for this work).

It also loses no water and hardly uses oil which is good for a big diesel engine!

I'm after £1200 as is or 1400 with the tappets replaced and an oil change.

Also available is a set of 17'' mercedes slk wheels, with conti extra load van tyres.

I'm after £250 extra for these as thats what they owe me!
