Right! well heres the back story to this little venture. My gf is getting (u should prob sit down for this) a brand new audi tt for when she passes her driving test.....shes only 17. i nearly cried, her dads rich, lots of hatred insued etc.

anyway! I'm not so well funded lol, and i refuse to have a slower car than my gf, it just cant happen SO heres where my plan comes in.

As it stands I'm putting a 1.8 turbo engine from an audi in the polo, now i know the tt has a 2.0 turbo engine, but the polos lighter and shes not a fast driver (she doesnt even have a licence yet :( ) so I'm hoping aslong as i get that power on the road by changing the clutch and gearbox i'll be ok.

The engine will have a dump valve, mainly cus i love the sound and a k and n system in it. I'll mod as much as i can in the engine that i know how to so if anyone has any suggestions feel free.

16 inch alloys, low profile tyres, and coilovers, so it'll be flat with lots of grip round corners. But the tt's 4wd, which is gay and happens to have a very good 4wd system which is even more annoying. But as far as i know not with the flappy paddle gear box so up and down changes being faster than mine wont be a problem.

Now i was thinking of new brakes, but i dunno about that. quite expensive i believe, not looked into it yet

I'm also gonna tint it and put lambo doors, ignore those last two i know they are gay but the whole point is the day she turns up to her college with the car I'm gonna role up behing in my polo and steal her thunder, cus I'm nice like that, she has a tt its not fair!

Anyway! i already have two 12 inch subs in the boot and I'm getting a clifford installed with remote engine start and all the accompanying features, alarm atc.

O and bucket seats but i already have some of those so i dont need to buy them

OK well I've managed to get all this stuff down to a price of 2500 quid minus the lambo doors cus they are annoyingly expensive.

Anyway, the reason I'm saying all this is because I need some more ideas, i realise its crazy to try and make the polo faster than a tt but its bin obssessing me since i found out shes getting it.

I appreciate any advice or constructive criticism. But what i really need is places to buy all the parts i need cheaply. Thank you in advance!

I'd forget trying to beat it, get your feet under the table.

Become best mates with her Dad and get put on the insurance courtesy of him.

Than you can steal her thunder by not letting her drive it.

Even if you make your Polo quicker are you always going to drive in seperate cars so you can race? and one of you stove it into a wall?

Lambo doors wont steal her thunder, people will look at your car and laugh and jump in her TT.

haha, id just get over it.. if my gf had a faster car than me id be well stoked for her :) ne1 who competes in the my cars faster than yours thing is just silly... just gotta respect a nice car when you see it.

though your project sounds fun, except for lambo doors, they are usually a no-no on none lambos :p make a progress thread when you do it mate :)

and you will run into lots of hidden costs when your doing it, if you research it properly, you will have to change things to get them absolutely perfect or spoil your car! extra strength for the chassis, defintely better brakes! anyway, good luck!

ye i kno, theres gonna be so much structural stuff I'm gonna need to keep in check, and i was thinking wheel bearings and driveshaft etc will need to make sure they are good enough

and ofcourse, i like the tt i think its a really nice car, and her dad let me drive the test one he got, its a beautiful machine

What TT is she getting? The 2.0 turbos are barely 6 seconds to 60, you'll struggle with that even in a 1.8T Polo

for all the stuff your planning for your polo it will run in to thousands, so just save the cash you were gonna waste on it, then sell the polo and get some thing that is all ready a performance type car.

All the money you could waste on the Polo could be put towards saving for a decent car. Plus all this talk of fitting 1.8T engines and what not...have you even thought about trying to insure the car at 18 years old? It's really not going to happen...and if it does it's going to cost you even more!

You have such a childish out look on life if you feel you have to out-do your girlfriend because she happens to have been given an expensive car.

Her parents must be pretty ignorant giving a 17 year old that type of car. She's got no real driving experience and a car that has quite a lot of performance. Hopefully she has her head screwed on and treats it with care.
