Vibration 6n 1.6 Gl Auto

Featured Replies

hi everyone i have a 6n 1.6 5dr gl auto , when the car is ilde in parking (P) its fine but as as soon as you put it in gear it starts its not bad so you cant hold the steering wheel or what ever but it is definately there but as soon as you put your foot on the accelerator its fine.

the gear changes on the automatic gearbox is fine apart from when in 1st then changes to 2nd which can be jerky at times but I've read on here if it is correct that the changes can be jerky.

any quick fixes, or opinions etc would be really helpful as I'm a student on a very little budget.

thank you and kind regards hope to hear from some people on here soon.

hi can someone please give me some ideas or recommendations etc, much appreciated

Hello,

a throttle body clean can help the gear change. Also look for cracks on the exhuast manifold re: vibration.

I am going to start a new job soon which will need me to drive a hour there and back daily next month. I'm still having the problem theres alot of vibration even when the car is in 'P-Parking' this is getting really annoying also when driving now. it feels occassionally as if it jerks when you let go of the throttle/gas.

Any ideas as to why this is. I've asked a couple of people in general and in their opinion the car is not missing eletrically but maybe injectors (with regards to the vibration) but at times when in drive and you let go of the brake in automatics your car tends to roll forward. the car struggles as if the car is choking by alot of jerking as if your your applying the brake on and off constantly to get that kind of feeling.

all the help will really be appreciated as i need the car 100% as i will be driving from essex to borehamwood from mid next month for my new job. thanks

I have the same model, out of interest what is your idle rev count?

yes i'd say in reference to the vibration it sounds like it may be idling too low because my car vibrates if the revs drop below the idle point.

hi thanks for the reply, erm it idles if I'm correct just below 900 when warm and just over a 1000-1100, I've had a big hunt under the bonnet and also got a second opinion from a transmission specialist with a quick going over the mount /gearbox mount located on the passenger side located under the battery tray has alot of play. with a bar the guy at the garage could move and there was alot of movement when changing into gear (automatic).

so I'm going to get some prices. but could there be anything else to look out for. the mount on the intake side is good as new.

I've found one possibility which has been pretty much confirmed by a auto transmission specialist and its the gearbox mount located under the battery tray. theres actually a a small cut out under the battery tray for the mounting boltyou cannot miss it. get a large screw driver or metal bar and check if there is any play in that mount. also get someone to change down into gears (in the auto) which will indicate if there is any excessive movement from the engine/gearbox.
