Well its nearly a year since my GT got wrote off and i'm getting closer to getting some money outta royal mail.

My solicitors took all my details, sent me to a back specialist and recorded what costs i occured because of the accident. This totalled £5430.24.

I've received a letter from my solicitors today saying that the offer has been rejected and they are willing to offer me £3553.25 in total (£3200 damages & £353.25 special damages)

Now i think i've been hard done by here. let me explain. I was without a car for over 28 days, even though i can apparently only claim until i received settlement from my insurance company. How they think £265 will buy a decent car i don't fookin know?!

Also, because i could hardly move or dress myself, my nice other half had to do alot for me, help me dress, cook, etc etc BUT the royal mail have not considered this because details of this were not noted on the report! So she was wasting her time then because it means nothing, even though at times she couldve been doing other stuff instead of looking after me. where did the details of her help 'disappear ' to?

I won't get back hardly any money i spent on travel (or fuel!) and they'll only give me £280 for loss of vehicle.

My N73 phone was damaged in the accident (screen broken) and instead of cough up, they want to get it fixed! Its no good to me now as i have a new phone on a different network and i dont need 3 sodding phones!

My question is, do you think the offer they made is acceptable? I'm not being greedy but i want to receive what i deserve and not fobbed off with a figure that they probably made off the top of their heads! The money was going on my car and to pay off debts so we could live abit easier but obviously not now!

My solicitors cant even write a letter without spelling and grammar mistakes ffs.

Shouldve just beat the guy up who was driving the van. Wouldnt have had any money but i wouldve felt ALOT better for it!

Solicitors always fuck around mate. Just tell them you want the full amount - if they hit you, why should you be out of pocket as a result?

Its not the solicitors fault Royal Mail wont pay out. Their job is to state the facts of the case and put the claim forward. You could always appeal, was it an out of court settlement? If so could always take it to court, nobody wants that and RM would then be more likely to cough up more cash. With regards to your girlfriend you have to prove that her time has a monetary value, e.g. did she have to take time off work etc. Was it a detriment to her.

well, from what I've been told, solicitors usually make 3 offers?? I don't know how true that is? They've offered £2750 and now £3553. Tbh, I'd settle at £4k. I'm gonna ring my solicitors tomorrow and see if it's possible to get £4k.

I'm just dubious as my solicitors will have to contact my legal expenses company to see if they'll continue to support me or will I have to risk footing any bills (which might bankrupt me!)

If it's not too late to do so, i'd note the fact that your other half had to take time out to help you etc.. especially if she had time off work.

If it were me i wouldnt give up, they're trying to be-little you by flashing out figures that dont meet the ammount you deserve.

I dont know anything about legal things but i'd put the claim to a court, if a national company cant cough up £2k then maybe a court case against them might help persuade them?

well my solicitor rang me earlier today and informed me of royal mails new(er) offer of £4300.

This has been accepted as its been a year now and its a joke stuff like this takes so long! I know its not quite up with my original request for £5430 but i was more than happy to settle at £4k.

Now i've gotta see how long it takes to get the cheque through.

my cheque came about a week after i settled on an amount, they usually wrapp it up pritty quick once all the shits been sorted.

although my final cheque was for 19k... put it away for something good mate. i wasted half of mine on shit, living like a king for a few months, regret it now lol

Some of its being spent on the car. Might not be in time for RR day so we'll have to wait and see.

The rest is for paying for new TVand then the rests being saved until i can afford a 1341 bottom end and fitting!

Lol threatening court always works. It works out cheaper for them to chuck £4k at you then spned £10k on court costs only to have to give you £4k anyway lol

I'd of preferred the £5430 but I suppose what I got was better than nothing. Couldve took it to court but I believe it's gone on long enough now. Just gotta wait for the cheque to drop on my doormat.

My cheque arrived in the post today. Well happy. Got it stuck into a bank account straight away so it'll be there to spend in January. I can finally buy the bits I want for my car :-)
