i need some low profile tyres for my alloys there 14" i just need them low profile I'm not fussed about the make just want the cheapest deal as possible anyone no where i can get them really cheap??

Tyre Sizes are in 3 parts

195 - the width of the tread

40 - the width of the sidewall

15 - the diameter of the wheel

low profile normally means reducing sometimes both the tread and sidewall widths, but most times it is safest to simply reduce your sidewall width.

Instead of using a 195 /50 /15 a lower profile option would be a 195 /40/ 15

you could try race and road...they seem to be quite cheap

on another note...dusnt matter how good a driver you are..circumstances predict the outcome...not always the driver

stopping distances are also effected ...aint worth belting a lorry up the back for a few quid

decent brand tyres really do make a big differance to how the car rides and road noise etc

dont like to preach , but see how much differance it is to upgrade to a known brand vs ditchfinders

The 40 in the above means 40% of the width so 40% of 195mm. So a 205/40 will have a bigger wall than a 195/40. Hope that makes sense.

Don't scrimp on tyre mate, they'll all that connect you to the road. makes no odds how big the engine is.

I got 165/50/14's on my p-slots thats a real good size for me

i sort of understand the sizes now so does it mean if i get

What's the width of the wheel? Also is the car lowered? If not then a to low profile tyre will look rank, you need to fill the arches a little.

I'm not certain ill look wen i get hme, i think I'm guna drop it 60mm it will b dne so i do need low pros but wut would u recommend with low pro? i need cheap suspension and the more i spend on tyres the less ill have for suspension if u understand? :)

I used to put cheap tyres on the back and expensive tyres on the front,purely to give me the tail-happy handling i liked. Turn into a corner,lift off the throttle,steer into opposite lock - and side it like a dancer!

And that,even when the Yoko's/Avon's/Goodyears on the front were bald,the cheap tyres on the back were new,and it was wet. Thats how much of a difference you get for what you pay - compound is everything. Which confuses even more,because i find Michelin well overrated for grip. But they last like no other tyre,so there's your moneys worth.

I dont know much about the 'intermediate' brands. Some say Falken are alright,alot seem to rate Kumho's - but i'll never use the latter again,i found them unpredictable.

I'd pay no less than £160 for a set of 4 tyres.

they r 195/45/14 well thats what I'm after and 160 is the cheapest i can find for a set of 4 falkens without p&p :\

www.mytyres.co.uk are pretty good but obviously you need to get them fitted and balanced locally so factor that into the price :)

If they do the size your after then Hankook are good on a budget. I used these on my mk1 fizzy and they were ace.

They describe themselves as a premium tyre with a budget price.

There was a Which report after I bought them and they were in the same legue as Conti and Pirelli for grip in the dry!!

Not so good in the wet but saying that they were as good as Michelin. I don't rate Michelin at all though. Too hard compound.

For the love of god don't scimp on tyres. Trying to justify getting shitty rubber by saying "I'm a good driver" and "It's only a 1.0" is just about the silliest thing I've never heard.

Tyres are what keep you in contact with the road, not your posh wheels or your extra low trick suspension, so spend an extra few quid and get a decent set!
