Started My Wheel Refurb Today...

Featured Replies

How would you go on about polishing whole wheels?

just so esactly the the same as you do with a lip but across the whole wheel (sand working up through the grades and then finish with a polishing kit), to do by hand is alot of work and is virtually imposiible to do on wheels that have a complicated or intricate design

The way I always look at stuff is if it takes an eternity to polish because of lots of nooks and crannys it'll take forever to keep them clean and therefore isn't worth it imo. If you have to spend more time cleaning than driving then I can't be arsed. I'd rather be driving!

Nice one mate!

Polishing is the easy part I cant get the sodding paint off my bbs solitude wheel I am experimenting with. I am down to the primer and its a bastard the paint striper just wont eat through it.

Use Wickes own paint stripper.

I have tried some general paint striper and spray on nitromoors both woudlnt really go through the primer, is shot blasting expensive

normally the paint stripper wont budge it because wheels are generally powder coated which is alot tuffer than clear coat

i would either carry on with the paint stripper or fork out for bead/shot blasting or what i have done in the past is to wack a wire brush on a drill and knock the stubbern paint off that way

I did use the wire brush on a tiny bit but I am mirror polishing the wheels so it will bugger the finish

na wire brushing one bugger the finish i mean you gotta be carefull with it, but the alloy on the wheel once all the paint is off will be so shite you will need to flat it alot therefore removing any marks that the wire brush put in i used one on my p's and they mirrored up fine
