well thts orite then lol who tht wive ???

to be honest thats still quite expensive i passed couple years ago (2 years 4 months to be precise) dont ask why but my first car was a 1998 S reg 1.8 Turbo Passat which fully comp cost me just under £3000 for the first year without any pass plus etc, who have you tried? norwich union are good but I've also heard from a few when i started driving insuring cars like the zetec -s 1.6 fiestas fairly cheap with quinn direct or something,

currently my mum dont drive so I'm using her no claims for a fully comp with norwich union on a 1.6 gl auto polo £600 for the year.

best of luck finding a cheaper qoute as 1700 in my opinion is still fairly high but its reasonable as your only 17 I've known people insuring bangers like a e reg vauxhall nova 1.6 for the same amount of money lol.

i insured my valver with elephant. In my name when i was 18 and also put parents on as named drivers.no ncb and declared. For 1560 fully comp.

Cant fault elephant in my opinion.

Many people would pay that much to be 17 again

If you've shopped about and it is the cheapest then you'll have to live with it i'm afraid.

As said above though adding an older person with experience usually brings it down a bit.

bit of advise/cheat, ring up the insurance company taking note of the name of the person you are speaking to, then get a bit arsy over the price of things and make sure they hang up, then ring the insurance company again make sure its a different person and complain about the 1st person u spoke to having an attitude. i know its not a nice thing to do but i actually did have a dickhead talking to me the first time when i was 18 and got a couple hundred knocked off the price think my policy went from 1400 to 1150 but stayed at 1150 for renewal so changed company after that and found it for 900

my 1st car was a 1.8 Mk3 Golf and adding my dad as a named driver knocked about £400 off (from £1300 to £900!)

Play them against each other too, when they ask who and what is your cheapest so far if it was e.g £1000 tell them it was £900 or less. It works, make up prices.
