Well i've done it - G40 is sold and now with its new owner! (as of Saturday!) I got £1950 for it - inc selling most of my spare bits and pieces, colour coded set of bumpers and a tank full of fuel. I would have liked a bit more for it - but I was happy enough!

So on Sunday Myself, Joanna (wife), Rebekah (daughter no1), Kathryn (daughter no2 & my dad pilled into my dads car to find me a new toy. And this is what i came back with:-

registered 4th september 2003 - 1 owner from new - 1 of the first 3 VRS registered in Scotland (3 registered at the same time - 1 red, 1 silver & 1 black!) Its got a few marks on the bodywork (biggest is a scuff into the paint on the passenger side rear arch leading edge) Its got 75k on the clock with a full skoda service history!

I paid £4650 for it which was, as most of you will agree, a complete steal! I already fitted the obligatory Magic tree!

PD160 inlet is sourced - as is a complete Milltek cat back ehaust system. 1st set of wheels is getting collected from Dundee on saturday night - plus i've also lined myself up with a set of porsche adapter really cheaply incase I decide i want a change! Coilovers, droplinks and rear ARB are also on order! :)

Already sourced myself a set of TT comps - in need of refurb for pennies! Just need to get it settle on coilovers then................

I was actually just looking at these 2nd hand they are only Group 9 insurance.

With a slight bit of colour coding these can look sweet.

The wishbone bushes (known as console bushes) on the std skoda suspension are of a soft rubber compound to keep the ride soft and comfortable - but they wear quickly and turn egg shaped giving lateral movement in your suspension causing unpredicatable handling, tyre wear. The seat ones are reinforced Sport ones which have a metal insert in them too - making the handling very precise and they last more than double the mileage of the std ones. However they also transmit slightly more road noise and can transfer some engine vibration into the interior

Nice one! do like the VRs' although i only have a lowly SDi fabia i would love to fork out and get one of these.

and i think the phrase 'dirt cheap' is a relative phrase lol.

problem is when you lower vrs's...that big heavy diesel sump sits pretty low!

Tidy, glad you got a black one in the end. Now get cracking on those mods!

Think they are about £8ea from seat! easiest to get a garage to do them as you have to get the tracking done afterwards!

Original side mount intercooler is very ineffective - hence the FMIC. Need to uprate the turbo as the K03 on the TDi are prone to failure (so i'm keeping £700 on one side just in case!) Single Mass Flywheel would be required if I go anywhere near 300lb/ft (which is all to easy even with just a remap) the dual mass one would need to be upgraded - otherwise the car will eat clutches in 6 months! once these are done and my filter and exhaust it should be good for a reliable 200bhp - even without the injectors as they dont need uprated until after 230bhp!

Since buying my VRS in December all i've done to it is fit a new headunit and a PD160 inlet & a K&N. I've slowly been building up a stock pile of nice shiney parts in my parents garage. So i finally managed to get some ramp time and got the springs, shocks, RARB & Strut brace fitted. Then went around to my mates place to get a new set of Falkens fitted to my newly finished TT Comps - fully Polished too!

Hope you like! Ride is much tighter and feels much more sure footed around the twisty road on the way home!
