and here another bit of info the Fabia vRS's were supposed to be called 'Fabia RS' but due to copyright with Ford they had to change it to 'vRS' and the V is just part of the Skoda logo. so actually still is called a Fabia RS.

yeah, ford were gonna call the focus RS the VRS before the whole lawsuit thing. RS - Rally sport, VRS - Victory Rally Sport

Shame the rear plate can't end with "CYA" You'll want it too after the remap! I've always liked these, as you know andy I had an estate one. Got a cordoba now with the same engine as the vRS - the estate was only a PD100 and I needed something with more go. The skoda had miles better build quality and more kit than the cordoba I've got now. I would definately have another.

Remap should see it upto 160bhp (economy remap - not a full blown stressfull one) I've already sorted out the tail happy handling. I highly recommend them. I love mine - not missing the G40's poke, this is just as quick.

yeah - you are right about the plate, but that maybe getting changed for a private one soon!

I was at a meet on Sunday and saw 3 identical VRS with the same wheels - maybe time for a change.......

Time for a quick update

Since getting my remap (should be in the region of 165bhp & 281 lb/ft torque) my clutch decided to let go. Not completely blown, but slipping baddly as soon as I tried to accelerate in any gear! So I weighed up my options and spoke with jabbasport about one of their SMF Sach kits. But I wasnt so happy about the excessive gearbox chatter - so Jabbasport made me up a prototype flywheel which is about 1 KG heavier than their other one and its quietened the chatter down abit, but its still there and noticeable! Car revs up really quickly and boost comes in quickly - I've done over 1200 miles with the new clutch and its settled to almost the same pressure as the std kit, but with a much more aggressive bite.

I've also been working with Jetex to get an aftermarket system made up for the VRS. I know Miltek and Blueflame do them, but they have been hogging the sales long enough, so I provided Jetex with a std system, they made one up and posted it back to me to run as the working prototype. Its on the car and its very quiet, until you get passed 3000rpm, then its quite a deep note, but not too intrusive.

I've now got an annoying scuffing noise coming from the passengers side front wheel - could be the driveshaft catching the ARB, due to running the std length droplink on a lowered car. Not sure yet still to be inverstigated.

I'm off to the Nurburgring later this year with it - cant wait!

So far the best i've got out of it is 68mpg - average is about 49mpg!

165bhp and still 50-60mpg..... See, this is why i want one!!

Oh and those wheels are awsome, good choice!

I'm currently saving up for a big turbo, FMIC & PD150 injectors - should see me close to 230bhp & 400lb/ft and still see about 40-45mpg!

I wanted one without the spec - bought one of the earliest genuine sold ones in the UK - this one is No3. All the older ones "03" are press cars and arent fully spec'd!

Upgraded the bulbs and fitted an upgraded loom.

Dont really need leather

Accelerate quickly, stop and handle well. other than that i'm not too fused about the interior spec or the exterior!

Quick Update:-

Decided the car aint handling as well as I had expected - front shocks are quite bouncy! Thinking about a set of Koni FSD's to go with the Bilstein springs. Also brakes are fine for a couple of quick stops, but it boils the fluid very quickly! So Audi TT 312's for the front and 256's for the rear are next on the list.

The tuning box i've got it a manually adjustable 7-setting unit. Its on no 4 at the moment. may try turing it up 1 setting and see how it is!

Clutch is settled nicely and i'm getting use to the bitting point and the extra chatter.

What DOT brake fluid are you using?

These are tough to lower alot, once you get beyond a certain point the anti roll bar starts catching the driveshafts. You can fix this with some shorter droplinks but you really need to go very low with those, then ground clearance for the engine starts to become an issue...they sit quite low already.

I've got a set of koni FSDs on mine, it still rolls around a bit more than I like (it's all over the place compared to the very stiff suspension of the polo) but It manages to still be comfortable most of the time where the polo does not.
