my cars currently waiting to be collected after an accident and iv received all the paperwork in.thing is it says on the paper work is the car modified.i had fitted temporary wheels on my car as i needed tyres badly and the accident happened with these on and are non standard.Do you recon i will get a payout and should i note on the mods part that they were a temporary measure until i got my new tyres as i have the standard wheels in the garage...?

when you say temp wheels did it have steelies on?

Or where your steelies getting tyres and you 'temp' fitted some 17's?

Depends what wheels they were mate!

If they was a set of 15x9 schmidt TH-lines or something of that sort...I dont think you will get away with it!! Lol

If they was just steelies you had put on, then I should think there will be a problem, as the car could have come with them on and you know non the wiser!

Athough, when it says mods, it does mean anything that isnt standard, is a modification!

Best of luck but you should have told the insurance company of the change even if it was temporary. If the accident was because of the non standard wheels you're looking at a zero payout I'm afraid. I'd stay stum as the insurance assessor may not know. As I said though depends what caused the accident.

If it's not been collected yet, can't you just change the wheels back? The assessor may not notice but don't hold your breath! My GT was modified, some not noted on insurance and nothing was ever said!

depends on the age of the car, most times with the older car the assesor only looks at the bump and writes "cat c" on the sheet and walks away, nothing to worry about, unless you are claiming off your own insurance.

my old golf had g60 steels on it "no mods declared" but the dumb ass still put down alloys - nothing was said....

also the golf had,

porsche door handles

crystal lights

lowered by 90mm

electric recaro

basically you name it, i was glad to get the salvage rights tbh - now all declared on modified policy and agreed value - no point skimping after being a victim you will realise

oh and i had gone over my 3k miles a year insurance limit by about 8k

I've never seen mileage checked tbh.
