I've got a mk2 polo coupe s and wanted to know what size wheels fit ??

Can you be more specific,before i write a list of thirty wheel sizes down? If you only need diameter for now,id say 13s and 14s.

Some have managed 15s with elastic band tyres.

Personally,i prefer the standard 5.5x13s over the 6x14s I'm currently using.

centre bore is 57.1mm

Ideal Offset run are ET20-35 (with a higher ET sitting closer to your suspension struts), VW wheels tend to be around the ET38 mark.

Biggest wheels on a mk2 comfortably would a 7 inch wide rim, probably a 14 at most. 15s can look good but even with the car lowered the wheels do tend to dwarf the small polo

Depends what you mean by a drivers car.

Mine was most fun on standard 5.5x13 et38 wheels with 185/60x13 tyres.

14" X between 5.5" and 8", depending on the offset. A low offset (on a wider wheel especially) means they will stick out the arches and are more likely to scrub on your arches damaging the tyres.

I am running 15"x6.5 and i regret it. I feel they are too big for the car.

Tempted to get these after Christmas

grunge is right 15s do look a bit too big. That pic has made me change my plans i wanted to slam a mk2 on 15s but i think 13-14" are plenty big enough. 13x7 ats classics would be a good and common choice.

For the best drivability on a mk2 polo, in my opinion i would go for a set of Compo MO's, 14x6 with 195/45/14 Yoko A539s.

15s can look very good on mk2 polos, you just need to reduce the arch to type gap by some suitable lowering, 40mm is more than enough on 15 inch tyres but i would say 60/40 with a 60mm drop to the front, to give it a nice rake stance.

Try to ensure your front wheels arent going to catch on the arches, as your cars front wheel drive and catching the tyre of the arch mid corner whilst hitting a small bump in the road can lead to some brown trouser moments

dollimore, get some uprated shocks and springs on there and itll transform the look of your car, i dont think the wheels youve chosen are too bad, however for the age of the car and dark blue colour i dont think they go that well.

Id put my vote towards some castalletes and paint them white. 14x6 with a sensible et

pretty sure g60 steels are 6 or 6.5 inch wide

id got for a 195/45 or 185/50 on a 14x6 rim. Id be looking at ET20/25 on an aftermarket set of wheels but on VW wheels like teardrops and such like your looking about ET35 ish

There's nothing worse than Escort cosworth wheels on a MK5 Cortina,and so many people just dont seem to get that a classic car needs classic style wheels. Any car needs wheels that suit its design,imt.

The FOCP 'Grungeisdead' is probably right on 14in tyre size. I got it wrong though - my 185x55x14 Goodyears would be better suited to a daily 6n. And if anyone could re-do that selecta with black arch trims and 5-slot hocks for me to detail in paint,id be very grateful
