Mk2/3 Solid Metal Engine Mount

Featured Replies

I have a plain billet engine mount for sale, no anodizing in funky colours I'm afraid! It was described as a gearbox mount but i have heard it can also be used on the rear mount too, i may be wrong though.

It lessens the amount the engine rocks and makes the gearchange feel much more direct, and it also makes your car sound like a rally car! We fitted one to MrP's old GT and it sounded the tits afterwards, he also commented on how the car felt better to drive.

£15+postage, believe PPP charged in the region of £30+ for these new.

No sorry mate, I'm a student and I'm skint as hell i need every penny i can get. I think £15 plus postage is a fair price, I've seen them sold on here for plenty more than that before now.

pic..

I'm in the same boat mate, i got laid off last friday so every penny counts for me too. lol.

So how much would postage be to Rotherham pal?

what advantages does thsi give? surely it would put more wear on the mounting bolts and surrounding area?

cheers

Can i ask, how does an engine mount make it sound different? I'm intrigued! shame i only just saw this thread :( where abouts on the car does it fit? engine or gearbox? :S

thanks

Replaces the rubber bush in the mount that holds the gearbox to the passenger wing, and thus reduces the engine rock, making the gearchanges slightly more direct. The fact that it is no longer rubber means that less vibration is absorbed, and this passes through the shell to the exhaust, creating a raspier note.

:)
