Next thing I know, a sweaty old Volvo estate is right up my backside with lights flashing and sirens blazing!

I pulled over, natrually, only to get another lecture about my car not being German and that "If i catch you again and you havn't changed it then they'll be a fine"

Well to be fair,the plates are blatantly illegal on three seperate counts. And look it.

To blazon complete disrespect for the law probably isnt the best way to keep the plod busy on more important crimes. They have targets for motoring offences - dont make yourself one.

They're doing their job, them plates are clearly illegal and them number plate surrounds aren't making it look anymore discrete.

1) Its illegally spaced

2) Its a German plate, the car maybe German but you are NOT in Germany therefore the plate isn't for UK use. Although technically its Spanish cause there built in Spain.

The police are doing there job. If you have something illegal on your car then its YOUR fault. You see it on these cop programs all the time. They pull someone for dodgy plate and a lot of the times there is other things that are dodgy about the car or the driver. I've been pulled a few times and I've never really been bothered. Sure its an inconvenience when you need to be somewhere but would you rather know the police are pulling cars that might have someone doing something they shouldn't be doing in them or going "nahh, it'll be fine". If they didn't pull people and sort them out you'd winge that the police do nothing.

At the end of the day you've done something illegal and the police are there to stop illegal things being done. If they drive past and leave it they are not doing there job.

TBH I rather plane UK plates compared to German imitations.

That's fair enough man, you've had bad experiences, but it differs from place to place y'know. Eg, I used to work part-time at Iceland and any time scummers or shoplifters caused problems (which was quite often there hah) the cops always showed and I've never been pulled by the police for any reason, probs cause I'm drivin a silver polo rather than a black BMW lol.

All I'm sayin is it's unrealistic to say the police don't benefit you at all, if they weren't there a large proportion of us would be fucked. If you want an example of this go watch Louis Theroux's program from sunday about crime in South Africa. The lack of police presence/work there led to a violent almost anarchical situation and it was quite hellish tbh; this is why I find it rich when people slate the police because of course they could be better, however to say they are of no benefit to you is plain fuckin stupid.

Just gets on your tits when you see loads of other cars blasting it around with no regards for other drivers and 10 mins later I get pulled for number plates..

Wouldn't suprise me if you were right, problem is that so much of card fraud is based abroad there is little they can do, except arrest those at the bottom of the chain, who in all likelehood would be let off with a slap on the wrists from court.
