Vw Polo 6n Dragon Green - Full Progress

Featured Replies

Hello everyone.

I have been a member on here now for a couple of months and thought it was about time i give something back to the site and put a few pictures up and a bit about myself.

My names Chris and i live in Kent in the south east. I am 18 and have been driving since 4 months after my 17th birthday. I work as a trainee scaffolder. I have now been driving around a year and have had 4 Cars.

1. Fiat Punto Sporting 1.2 16v - Loved the Car but due to headgasket going and me not being able to fund getting it done i sold it...and very much missed it. Unmodified.

2. Citroen Saxo VTR 1.6 8v - Looked nice, Drove like shit. Rattled and banged around and just wasnt for me. Staright through exhaust, lowered 40mm, Bucket seats and different rear bench.

3. Ford Fiesta Zetec-S 1.6 16v - Unfortunately got wrote off by someone reversing off her drive onto the main road and hitting the side of me. Handled like it was on rails and was reasonably quick...but should have been quicker due to other cars in the same category ie the VTS being much faster - iirc 20bhp better. Milltek full exhaust system, Quikshift, air filter, lowered on sprngs and shocks (GMAX), powdercoated white standard alloys and a bit more. Ie lights etc etc

After the Write off i got given a Honda Civic 1.4 57 plate - Which i hated. Way too big, sluggish, no power and felt like i was driving a spaceship.

I then decided that i wanted something well built that can be modified well and will be able to take quite a bit of a kicking. I new a mate who had a 1.4 Polo CL and went around then looking for a polo but a Valver.

My mates Boss (Body Repairer) had one for sale in Dragon Green (R Reg) so i bit his hand off at the £1400 asking price. I picked it up a week later. I was at first not keen on the colour but it grew on me. Previously i had had the punto in red, saxo in poseidon blue and fiesta in imperial blue. Anyway the car had done 65k miles, Full stamped VW service history and had 2 local owners.

As soon as i got the car I De-Badged the rear and added a badgeless grill i found on ebay for 20 quid. I then Added a couple of stickers too the back and this is how she currently stands. The car is immaculate, i am very happy with it and any suggestions on what to do will be appreciated.

Future plans are as follows:

a) Coilovers (FK SILVERLINES BOUGHT BUT NOT ON YET)

b) Set of bbs alloys or Borbets

c) De bump strip - May be a pain because due to rear quarters being resprayed there is going to be a lip (NOW DONE)

d) change front headlights - unsure what too

e) mk5 Rears

f) few more finishing touches.

i didnt think this would make an interesting read lol :(

 relax mate you've only had it up a few hours and everyones out doing christmas shopping

nice story and a nice polo, fiesta looked kinda cool aswell

it'd be worth you going for coilovers as 40-600mm spring and shock kits dont do much to the ride height at all, but looks like you know what you're doing so good luck with the rest

lol thanks mate. yea i need to do a bit of that aswell. was originally going to get a set of coilovers but i would never adjust them....ever. so i just think to myself is it worth it. Also with KWs i know they are a good make and i cant get a really decent set of coilovers mfor under 500 really. didnt want to spend too much over 1000 on coilovers and wheels.

Other plans include smaller things like bonnet lifters by INXX and maybe a few more stickers. Got some nice genuine VW mats on their way too.

thanks mate

o and the fiesta was a good car but had minor things wrong building up and the spec wasnt as it should be for the engine size.

thanks again

chris

bosch aeroblade wipers now added. makes it look much nicer from the front.

new wheels now fitted. some nice arch gap going on. before everyone slates me for it remember i believe its not worth budgeting on suspension so am saving up for a decent set of coilies. heres pictures...not very good but gave it a quick clean and just a couple of snaps focusing on the wheels.
