Well i purchased this from ebay and I'm not happy with it and i have no love or passion for it so I'm selling it, its a 1987 1.3 Saloon in red it has had the following work carried out by its previous keeper Been well looked after time he had it, oil changed every 5K with semi synthetic oil, plenty of new parts been put on since he got it, radiator, full new rear brakes including cables drums etc, cv boots, front wheel bearings, bottom arms, clutch and cable, probably loads of other bits, basically when anything went wrong it got fixed properly with new parts, and has no major defects i know of. and has the following modifications

Keihin carbs off Kawasaki ZXR 400 on custom inlet manifold with custom alloy airbox and cone filter

Facet fuel pump and Filter King pressure regulator

Ported cylinder head

Newman 270 degree cam and new lifters

Fuel injection exhaust manifold and twin downpipe

Lightened flywheel

Full Powerflow custom single box exhaust with single DTM tailpipe

Eibach Pro Kit Springs

Boge Dampers

Full Front end Poly bush kit

Mk1 Golf Gti alloys with Yokohama A539 185/60/13 tyres

239mm vented ATE Power Discs with calipers off VW Passat

Scirocco Scala front seats

The car is MOT'd until 7/7/09 and tax until end of april 09, the car has recently had a new radiator and while i have owned it it has had new plugs, distributor cap, rotor arm, plugs, thermostst, temperature senders (both on the thermostat housing).

The car has a JVC cd player to be sold with the car and if it makes enough money i may throw in some VIBE speakers, the car drives nicely and is pleasantly nippy for a 1.3 and it handles rather well for its age it will rev off the clock with no problems due to the bike carb setup.

BAD BITS, well since i purchased the car the temperature guage has not worked i have changed the thermostat as the bottom of the rad was not getting warm and both temp senders on the thermostat housing the guage works if you short the wires out at the sender and i have changed the sender so it has baffled me i will keep looking into it however on my days off to keep me out of mischief, The car has an eratic tick over problem sometimes it will tick over fast and others it will tick over slow and stall however it still drives fine even when its doing this, i think the carbs may need cleaned and set up properly, however included in the sale i have a weber DMTL 32/34 carb and a inlet manifold including adaptor plate and top end gasket kit so you could change to this carb if you get hold of a air filter to fit. Also included is some red overbraid fuel pipe and necescary clips to either tidy up the existing carb setup or

Even with the tick over problem this car is reliable and has never let me down and i use it day to day traveling to and from work.

The interior is ok the seats could do with a clean up and as you can see from the pics it has a few bits of rust here and there, underneath is sound and appears to have been waxoyled on a regular basis.

Am looking for £500 or offers very close to that as the car owes me a considerable amount more, will swap for something similar or a Suzuki SJ410/413 with a few little mods on it will also be willing to add or accept cash either way if its what I'm after please pm me for a phone number if its easier for you to talk via phone than here.

What you after instead? My brother's got an e34 520i SE that he'd probs do a deal with if you were interested. Its silver with black leather leather/deep dish borbets (I think) and taxed an mot. Have got some pics if you want and we're in Cumbria-Brampton

I'm using it as a daily at the moment and its not given me any problems, like i mentioned the tick over issue needs sorting but i reckon pop the weber carb on and that will resolve that issue or alternatively strip and clean the bike carbs whichever you prefer, fuel use wise i cant compare as the car i had before was a 24v 2.9v6 cosworth the polo seems to do well for a tank of fuel and like i say has yet to let me down. sometimes on cold mornings i mean very cold such as really thick ice on the windscreen it takes a few turns of the key to fire up but thats due to not having a choke cable fitted.

Ok mate, would be very interested in looking at this. Do you know if its a GT (75 ps) conversion or the standard 1.3 (55ps)? Get back to me whenever buddy. I'm going away for a week on the 27th so will be back the 3rd. Will come and have it off you when i get back :-)

its the standard 1.3 but i reckon with all the mods and bits on it it could be heading for around 80bhp if not more I'm not entirely sure on this tho...

in honesty i need to sell this ASAP so i can put a deposit down on another car i have my eye on but if its still here your more more than welcome to come over when your back home :)
