As some of you know i was recently involved in a hit and run accident. And so i cant claim whiplash off myself. Anyway i was at legal field christmas party the other night and i got talking to a Personal Injury Barrister and he informed me that i can claim for compensation off the motor insurers bureau and that i can be my own legal representation.

Has anyone done this before? If so was it a good service etc, easy to make the claim?

my mate did it when an uninsured driver hit my car. to be fair he was milking it and ther wasnt much wrong with him. It took him a while but iirc he got 900quid for a "knee injury." i didnt claim off them for the damage to my car as i really couldnt be bothered to wait to get the money to fix my car and fill out the complicated forms.

cant remember any specific details about the claim process tho

Well I'm definately not milking it. My head is stuck in one position at the moment and i feel like I've been kicked in the ribs. £900 for the knee doesnt seem bad. Thanks for the reply at least i know the system works

yep I know that feeling! i would say go for it as you dont know until you apply what your entitled to. Sounds like you deserve it mate!

best of luck with it all anyway

I was going to, but they came to take a statement and I couldn't remember anything about the accident.

 i had that in my head too

Leanne, someone crashed into me when i was 17, i was driving my car around on a prov license so therefore my insurance wasnt valid. I got 300 quid fine and 7 points on my license, I didnt have to pay out for the person who crashed into me however, they claimed through the MIB and got a new KA, as opposed to the shed of a 106 that she wrote-off crashing into me.

Part of your insurance premium goes towards filling the MIB's kitty, so as you didnt get the details of the Lorry unfortunatly you may be able to claim through them. They may also be able to get intouch with the Highways Agencys or whoever controls the cameras on the motorway to try and get a plate number of the lorry that merked into you.

Id speak to both the Citizens Advice Beaurea and MIB and see waht they say. No harm is trying

Saf I've already spoke to the highways agency, all the footage gets deleted after a couple of days which is a huge pain in my rear end, but now I'm just trying to get hold of the motorway police who attended to get some kind of crime reference number.

Oh this gets better. Tried to get a reference number off the police to put on the claim form. Apparently the accident never happened!!! They cant find any record of it. I'm like um well i have a CAT B write off and a letter demanding money for the crash barrier off the highways agency, but apparently i must have imagined it all

and the pics that you posted up on another thread... damned good photoshopping!!
