I was happy to rock these as is with some 195/45/14s on but one of my friends has put the fear in death into me by saying it could split or fracture and only widewheels and certifify banded wheels?

He was right about the muppet catching fire, so I trust him to some degree, but on the other hand they are pimp and I want to rock them, but I also like being alive so id rather the wheel didnt split while I was driving and I spun out a million times.

Any opinions welcomes.

i know kris who owns wide wheels so i might give him a bell and see what he says, he might be able to test them but I'm sure he would be reluctant to give them a certificate without being 100 percent sure as his name will be on it so I'm sure there will be a fee

I've got enough low profile rubber on the teardrops that i can swap over to these and ill see how they fit and if they leak air or not, run true and balance. and then ill think about what they are going on. id rock them on the coupe if they dont need archwork, otherwise ill have to save them for the lupolo

The welds certainly look up to the job, and the fact they've been resin sealed should atleast minimise the risk of a blowout due to low tyre pressure. I'm in agreement about him covering his own back by recommending them for show use only, as he has no certificate to guarantee workmanship. At the end of the day a lot of manufacturers steel wheels leave the factory having been constructed from atleast two pieces (though thats largely just the basket and the face), and we don't question those, yet in theory theres the same potential for failure. It's all dependant on the quality of the welding. Being constructed from 2 pieces rather than 3 (rear half of wheel, band and front half of wheel), theres one less weld to fail.

contact the seller and ask if he ran them and if so where there any issues?

Just get the welds checked out by a pro, looks good enough tho

I thought it was illegal to band wheels these days? I certainly wouldn't be running them without having them checked over but then again I shouldn't think you'll get anyone to approve them either.

I dont understand this resin seal malarkey. The weld has been dressed in a sealant? If it was a good enough weld,it wouldn't have to be.

Id suggest getting the weld's skimmed and a proper weld,like 6-8mm wide,being layed into it.
