I dont know what its called - the best i could come up with is reverse mounting?

basically i have seen a few mk1 golfs with super deep dish steel wheels. i know this can be achieved by banding them, but this is expensive

are there any spacers/adaptors that would enable to bolt my standard steel wheels on backwards? ie face onto the hub

It may be a banded or highly modified steel with a really high/low offset... Or with large spacers... Though there's every chance they are on backwards... The only real life example of reversible wheels I've ever seen though is on the original Mini...

You want hubcentric spacers if you gonna go for something that size, otherwise your bearing will just get trashed in no time at all

orignally i was going to do this on my mk1 golf

but if all goes to plan i am picking up an old Volvo 340 on sunday, so i want real wide back wheels as it is a RWD car.

i was going to ask on the volvo forums, but you guys are better! :-D

Buy some wide Wellers. They're probably cheaper than banding or wide spacers,are safer,and will look best.

my old man used to bang on about people dong it on old cortina's etc when ha was a 'lad' wheels and brake set up's are different on more modern cars.

Here's a couple of pics of my wheels I'm running atm. They are just gti steels with the centre flipped round and welded back in to give you some dish. Bit of a cheat but I'm guessing its along the lines your after. Just need a simple jig and a welder to achieve this without wobbles etc.

I bought them like that and cheap as well :-) , but I have spoken to a mate that's a welder/fabricator and he said if he was going to do it after hours he would probs charge £50 as it wouldn't take too long. You could also get two sets of the same wheels, cut them up and make four fat wheels out of them.
