I was starting to get a bit bored with the universal sub enclosure, so i set about with a DIY project.

The idea was to make a false floor to hide the amp and the crossovers in, and then make a custom enclosure, using fiber glass to make use of the area around the interior boot light.

Anyway, this is what i got up to.

the bottom layer of the false floor,

the top layer,

trap door for easy access to the amp and crossovers

then came the sub enclosure, witch would have to be a gay shape to keep the same volume as the last box,

saw the RMs on edition and just had to have them. 600 with tyres wasn't bad, need the arches doing if I'm gonna go lower though.

I'm thinkin of doing something like this in the next holiday i have....was it really hard or just common sense and a bit of crafty work??

is that amp mounted upside down? if so you might want to adapt your build slightly as running the amp upside down will burn it out pretty quick, as it will send all the heat straight into the curcuit board and render the heatsinks on it useless

yer g40jon is right, do be very careful with your amp being upside down they say on the boxs dont mount the upside down never done it my self dont know what happens.

what happens is that heat rises, so if you turn it upside-down the heat rises straight into the board, the delicate components, such as mosfets will get too hot and break. then you have a useless chunk of aluminium with some electronic components melted inside.

might mount it the other way now , iv always had it mounted upside down. but now you mention it I'm gonna flip it and mount it the right way. cheers for the comment

@ mctangus, its not a hard thing to do, just use big pieces of card to make templates , so you can get a snug fit. hardest part was prob the sub enclosure.

cheers mate....I'm definatly gunna give it a go!! Its just so much nicer havin a boot build instead of a sub box wandering around your boot when you go round corners....
