Too right, I own a proper beetle and can't understand why people in new beetles wave at me The only thing they have in common is they're called a Beetle and they're built by VW. It's just a Golf in a frock!!!!

If you buy one please don't get upset if I don't wave back. It's not personal, I don't wave at Sharrans, Passats, Boras etc either

Agreed, new Beetles aren't much cop.

However, I've yet to find anything good about the original Beetle either! Ok, the sloping light early type don't look bad and can look really cool if properly restored and lowered on a nice set of wheels.

None of the original Beetles were what you would call good though. Handling is poor particularly on the early swing arm rear suspension ones, the interior is hideous on later models, they're all dead slow and noisy, virtually useless heater.... the list goes on.

And then VW go and make a camper version which is even worse!

To me old Beetles are like all old cars. Mechanically they are basically shit! But it's the look of some of the old cars that I really love. That's why I love mechanically modified versions of them.

As a daily driver, I'd far rather drive a new type Beetle than a standard slow, thirsty, noisy, uncomfortable and ultra basic old one, particularly in the winter!

the only new beetle that is kwl is the RSI beetle

Agreed. No matter what they do to the outside of a new beetle, it'll still be ugly! And wtf was the vase all about on the dashboard? Useful? errrrrrrrr hell no.

breadvan you really need to have a ride in a classic beetle they can be made to handle better than a porsche with the right bits on , and slow you must be joking my friend has one which with his last engine did 0/60 in 2.16 seconds and a quarter mile in 10 seconds, his new engine is even quicker and wastes his nissan skyline which has nearly twice the power of the beetle , not all camper vans are slow check out the b32 mine will waste an evo from the traffic lights

I'm love both Beetles old and new, a lot more the old thou!! the Beetle is Volkswagen as the Beete was the birth of VW so i think it should always be avalible from the range and appriciated I'm not keen on that 2011 model thou!

Was watching herbie the other day (sod all else on!) and the new beetle is 100x uglier than the old one.

Its only really superbeetles that can be made to handle ok because they have struts up front and IRS rear, you are wating your time with a normal beetle lol. Depends what Porsche you are on about as well, they made some crappy ones! But beetles just arent ridgid enough to make good handling cars.

And to make them fast you had better get your chequebook out, like 4 grand for a set of heads!!!

they're not about how good they handle or how fast (slow) they are to me, i couldnt give a shiz if they had a lever that smacked you in the ball sack every 100 miles, id still rock one *dreams*
