Hi, I'm new on here.

I'm interested in a polo GT, they appear cheap, reliable, easy to modify and cheap to run, not to mention nippy and good looking.

Anyway, I've got a few quotes for insurance off the net and they're quoting me £2,500+, is there anything I can do to lower the quote or am I going to have to look at another car?

Sometimes adding a parent as a SECOND driver can lower it. Mothers preferably. Some people put there parents as the named driver but if you were to have an accident and they doubted who was the main driver of the car (IE they thought it was you but you put your mother to make it cheaper) then they can refuse to pay out. If you do it the other way a lot of the times it will be a reduced cost but in the event of an accident you'd be thanking yourself you'd done it that way as theres no doubting your cover.

like fuck they drive any of my cars though

I'll try getting a quote and adding my dad, but my mom doesn't drive.

I might just look at something else for now, possibly a newer but lower group polo, but I do prefer the older GT's.

you lot are lucky my first car was a cinq and that cost me 1500 at 17 then i decided i wanted a tigra at 18 and adrian flux said how about 4k lmao now I'm 22 and the same tigra running 230bhp with everything added is 700 still high but a bargain considering the cinq costs 350 to insure lol

as for my mk2 squareback its about the same as the cinq to insure but i cheat a bit as I'm using trade insurance on all my cars as it only costs 2k for me, mum and dad and theres about 10 cars in our garage so works out cheaper as it states we can drive as many cars as we want even if they arent ours up to the value of 10k
