6n Dash Speakers

Featured Replies

I'm going to be changing my dash mounted speakers soon and was just after some information to help decide on the new ones. I've tried using the search but nothing specifically related came up.

The main issue is the fitment and size. The original VW speaker that was removed is 10cm in diameter (including the frame around the edge), I assume this means I'm looking at that size rather than 8cm.

I know I'm not going to get speakers that clip in in the same way, so I guess I'm going to have to screw them in.

If this is the case, should I be getting 8cm so they have enough room for the mounting screws?

What have other people done when replacing these? any help would be great.

Excuse the ramblings, hope it makes sense...

It turns out to be more complicated than I realised. I'm going to leave the original tweeters because I have a connection problem to the right door speaker. Boo Hoo :( not in the mood to start ripping dashboards and doors apart...

This isn't too hard, just strip the wires from the VW dash speakers, put new connection on and get the alpine 10cm tweeters and sand down any edges that seem a little too big, they just sit in, glue them if you want to bodge it

I had some speakers in my dash at 1 point... I was able to cut the cable and crimp them then I dropped a small mid tone speaker in The gap... I will see if I can find the pic, then I put a 6x9 in the gap.... Didn't rlly fit but it sounded sweet.
