thats not that bald lol I've got worse I've got camber on the front have my tyres have brand new tread an half are down to metal wire

what a idiot, i hope the police come and give you 6 points and eventually take your license away before your smoothened tyres end up causing you to crash into a car chock full of kids and parents.

there are some fucking fools on this site, i cannot believe half of you are into your cars yet cant check your tyres every week.

Not joking. They were like that when i bought the car so i got £200 off the asking price, i only drove for 3 miles on them to the local garage in the town where i got the car and had all 4 tyres replaced for £165. The previous owner only drove to work and back which was less then a mile each way so he didnt see the issue  He even said "I'm sure they will get you home" (Swansea to Gloucester is a 2 1/2 drive FFS)

If it was from swansea then they were probably nicked from the back yard of the local Kwikfit. hahaha.

i have to keep my tyres ryt as if i go bald i end up in a ditch

Ditch Hopping!!! Really easy to slide off those roads

I check them often due to 4x4 ride height it means that its easy for the fuzz to check my entire tyre tread plus the roads here and in bangor are shitty and slippery so good tread is a necessity. lol.

Had to do an emergency stop in my saxo once on the track and ended up with 2 tyres down through the banding, 80MPH and skidded into a gravel trap after and idiot decided to flip his Corsa on a slight bend in front of me bloody newbies. Just glad it was early and only a few people there.

I've been done on bald tyres. 3 points and 60quid on each. was a good 4 years ago now, and belive me it makes you keep a check on them from then on! :-)

I hope Kerrly is joking, cause thats fucking stoopid, how can you be interested in your cars, and not realise your tyres are like that, everybody has probably looked at their tyres and gone 'bugger me , i'm sure there was more tread than that' but thats fucking dumb, certainly nothing to show off about,,almost as bad as, i was overtaking at 6 times the speed limit and someone changed lanes, not expecting some idiot to be doing mach 7 past about 14 vehicles in one go, luckily i had room to go past everyone. woop woop, check your car and tyres more often, or you may hurt somebody else. Nice one

Well at least someone has some common sense.

Thats not something to be proud of, its utter stupidity. The fact that you treat it like a joke shows just how stupid you really are.

I think its shocking how many of you seem to think bald tyres are just a joke and there no real reasoning behind why we have minimal tread depths. I'm not normally one to get lost for words but I really don't know how to write how I feel reading this thread. Then on the other hand people cry about it when the police pull them for 'no reason'. There probably looking out for idiots who can't be arsed to get there alignment done. FFS.

people need to calm down abit on here

I'm a student and on a tight budget so its not easy to buy new tyres and get the changed over that easily so i had to save my pennys and go steady

I've jus about scrapped the moneys together to get all my new tyres and get the fitted and that was 200 squids

sooo yeh I'm all good no more baldness

This thread is certainly an eye opener  It's simple, if you can't afford low profile tyres then just bang on some steelies while you save up the moolah! Poverty is no excuse. In the past i've given away a cheap set of steels with tyres for someone with a runabout. I'll have no sympathy if you stack a car with tyres in the state that some of these are in

thats no excuse to be honest, if your tyres are bald you shouldnt be driving it. simple as

If your on such a tight budget you can't even afford to keep your car road worthy then maybe you shouldn't be driving. There really is no excuse for having bald tyres. You don't even have to be a technical genius to keep on top of them. They have wear markers, once they are level with the tread its new tyre time. Tyres should be checked regularly anyway.

Can't afford to drive a safe car means can't afford to drive a car IMO. When I was at uni, I had fuck all, but my car was always safe, didn't have alloys, a radio, any street cred, or petrol half the time for that matter, but it was always road worthy.

Jog on, imo.

Thats the saddest most police like comment, i have ever read. So, even if your a full time student, in a part time band, along with a working job running a tight schedule and cant keep on top of things its just like college work. It cant always be done to perfection or to a simple form of obsession. You, by saying 'if your on such a tight budget maybe you shouldn't be driving', thats just stereotypical, and un-just. Expecting everyone to afford a product and if not go somewhere else, is just morally wrong. Maybe that person needs to drive to actually make there living. Cars are not just about the 'driving experience', they contribute an awful lot to peoples lives. i'm not saying i'm exactly poor but, take other people into consideration. End - rant

Smoothendedended tyres ftw

get with the times dude... i beleive the term is cleaned.

Ah right, that makes it all fine when you have to do an emergency stop, can't because you've got no tread on the wheels you're running because they look better than your steels, and end up killing someone, after all, they should have the consideration for you that you've got better things to do than be safe.

When I was at uni, I studied 30-odd hours a week, and worked full time nights, if I hadn't got petrol, I walked or borrowed my mate's bike and peddled a nice little 6 mile round trip from uni to work.

Sorry fella, but you're coming across as a self-righteous little kid.

jesus.....

i replace on about 2mm, never see a flush TWI, i dont check my tyres weekly but I'm one of these who spend enough time scouring around my car that i know what sort of condition most parts are.

i collect tyres over the course of the year, from local free ads (brand new people who have bought in error or have other sob stories) or mates who are getting rid of wheels (part worn) keep them untill they are needed - hence never having to part with mucho mooolah.

i also have a corsa diesel that i just fit polo, golf 4x100 steelies or bbs RAs to. sometimes i get these off poor students that dont appreciate thier value dont think I've bought tyres for this in 7 years.

the trick is to always have a set of steelies or backup wheels that can be used incase of "insufficent funds".

you shout just leave the tyers on coss the whire coming out of them will give you betta grip in the snow.. i no up hear if we get stoped with tyers like that we get 3 points and £60 fine and we alsow get done for police assault as well if the police man hurts him self running his hand over that. so you wood be looking at a nothere 3 points and big fine and taken to court

i change my tyers a bit befor thay are on the limet coss thats what makes your car stay on the road and stop and wood not wont to gambel with my saftey or eny one elss's. just a bit silly letting them go that far..

How is wanting the roads to be full of road worthy cars a sad and policeman like comment? I refuse to believe anyone is so busy in there life that they don't have 60 seconds to walk around there car, look at the tyres and make sure there okay. Checking tyres isn't a form of obsession or about being a perfectionist. Its about your vehicle being safe. If its not safe, the risk of things going tits up is much higher.

You, by saying 'if your on such a tight budget maybe you shouldn't be driving', thats just stereotypical, and un-just.

How is it stereotypical?

No one said anything about it being a driving experience. Even if you use your car to get from A to B you need safe tyres. If your tyres are wearing out funny then even more reason to go get the car checked out cause its all to tits if its wondering about. The fact is, if your to poor to maintain your car or your to busy or you have any other reason to try and justify running bald tyres then no you shouldn't drive. Your a danger to anyone around you who can be arsed to maintain there car.

i wonder if i got stopet for a bald tyer and said that to a police man he wood just say "its ok on you go dont wory about it" do not think so. if its bald its bald. shoud not be on the road than can do you for no insurance as well coss your car is not road worthy wich makes your insurance invalid.. so its going to cost you a lot more than a tyer wood..

you can get part worns for like a tenner each, enough said. no excuse. and matt g, you've made yourself come across as a right bellend, considering your tyres are the only thing that really keep you on the road, there is no point in fucking about

kam isnt saying go and spend 200 pound on high-performance sports tyres, but since for 40 quid you can make sure theres legal tyres on your car, thats only ten quid more than a fine, minus the 3 points, and you dont have the stopping distance of an oil tanker. just think of that next time someone in a pram walks out in front of you at a zebra crossing because naturally its their right of way, and you have to slam on the anchors at 30.

If ever a police spokesman was to go on a modified car forum to answer to all the "why do the police always pull me? just because I'm a young driver with a modified car" threads, I'm sure he/she would just post a reply with that ^^ quoted

Having bald tyres is the stupidist thing anyone could do. End of. Put it this way if someone crashed into your car becasue the tyres were bald and unable to cope with short braking distances (ie under the legal limit), youd sue their ass, no? The attitudes of some members on this site is disgusting tbh

tyres are the only 4 points of the car that are in contact with the road, its just plain stupid to let them get into that state
